The First Street Artists' Collective is a group of established and emerging artists who have come together for community, support, and inspiration. Many of us share the pleasure of having studied with Terry Furchgott, long time Instructor at Seattle's Gage Academy of Art, and it is at her studio that we meet monthly to show pieces in progress, discuss new ideas, images, and artists that inspire us, and to give and receive positive and insightful critiques. The Collective offers a variety of artistic visions of contemporary life expressed in a wide range of media including acrylics, oils, pastels, collage, charcoal, pencil, and ink. This diversity of creative intention and technique is held together by a shared commitment to artistic excellence, a seriousness of intent, and by the group's celebration of the special, unique qualities found in each others' work. Alone in our studios and together as a collective we have each worked hard drawing and redrawing, experimenting, sometimes throwing away and starting over, manipulating the key elements of drawing, color, and composition to slowly hammer into shape the exceptional images that you see here.
