🎨✨ What an amazing day at Spark! Creativity’s Open Studio at ArtWorks in Edmonds!

Hundreds of families and community members came through to create, explore, and connect with our incredible teaching artists from our Teaching Artist in Schools program.

Kids and families tried flip books, printmaking, ceramics, and collage, collecting a stamp at each creative station. Once they completed all four, they returned to the welcome table for stickers or a Spark! pin! ⭐

We also had a collaborative community mural, a silent auction and raffle, and fantastic live music from the Mountlake Terrace High School jazz group. 🎶

One of the best parts of the day was seeing so many young artists experimenting, trying something new, and creating alongside their families.

A huge thank you to our teaching artists, volunteers, musicians, supporters, ArtWorks, and everyone who joined us and made the day such a success. 💚
Stay tuned — we have more creative community events coming throughout the year!

What happens when young people aren’t just invited to an arts event — but are given a role in shaping it?

💚 Where We Live was Spark! Creativity’s first Youth Arts Council exhibition, and youth leadership was at the heart of it.

From developing the exhibition theme and reviewing artwork to helping install the show, welcoming visitors, and sharing their voices with the community, our Youth Arts Council helped bring this pilot to life at Zamarama Gallery in Everett.

We’re grateful to the City of Everett Arts & Culture for supporting this work through an arts and culture grant and to everyone who came out to celebrate these young artists.

And we’re not stopping here.

✨ Our next Youth Arts Council cohort is coming soon.

🎨 A first for Spark! Creativity!

This weekend, we celebrated our first-ever Youth Arts Council exhibition, Where We Live, at Zamarama Gallery in Everett.

Our Youth Arts Council leaders, Nora and Audrey, helped shape the exhibition from the beginning — from developing the theme and reviewing submissions to helping organize the show, welcome guests, and create a space where youth voices and creativity could be seen and celebrated.

This exhibition was shaped by young people from the beginning — from helping choose the theme and reviewing submissions to organizing the show, welcoming guests, and creating a space where youth voices and creativity could be seen and celebrated.

The gallery featured artwork inspired by the places, people, landscapes, neighborhoods, and communities that make Western Washington home. Visitors also joined in by responding to the question:

“What does Where We Live mean to you?”

We are so grateful to the City of Everett Arts & Culture for supporting this pilot through a grant, to Zamarama Gallery for welcoming us into the space, and to every young artist, family, volunteer, and community member who helped make the exhibition possible.

💚 And this is just the beginning.

We’ll be launching our next Youth Arts Council cohort soon, so stay tuned for opportunities for young people in grades 6–12 to get involved.

BIG NEWS! 🎉

We’re excited to share that foundry10 has awarded Spark! Creativity $20,000 to support the development of Youth Creative Pathways.

This work will build on what we’re learning through our Youth Arts Council and create more opportunities for young people to create, connect, lead, and share their work through artist mentorship, creative projects, leadership experiences, and public arts opportunities.

We’re incredibly grateful to foundry10, a Seattle-based education research organization with a philanthropic focus, for investing in this next stage of Spark!’s youth programming.
