This piece is called 15 Sharks. The assignment was to make a piece inspired by activism. I decided to speak on the depleting shark populations around the globe. As of today, over 70% of the worlds shark population has disappeared due to human intervention. Whether it be overfishing of sharks for their fins, bycatch, or just game hunting, sharks are disappearing faster than they can reproduce. The Red lines signify the amount of sharks left on this planet according to their species.

I absolutely loved my Systems painting class this semester. It was so much fun learning a whole new process of painting. Creating rules and deciding factors of a painting before even starting is so interesting and a lot of fun. This is the whole timeline of my final painting in the class on a 2'x4' panel.

Overfished

I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of an exhibition in the Behnke Family Gallery near Cornish College of the Arts with my junior cohort! A common theme for me this semester was the ocean. I have always loved the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it. This piece depicts a declining species of trout native to the Pacific Northwest and how they are treated in the commercial fishing business.
