There are lots of ways to record an acoustic guitar. Today’s recipe: small diaphragm condenser pointed to where the neck meets the body, ribbon mic pointed slightly behind the sound hole. Got a pickup in the guitar? Might as well lay that down, too, for kicks.

It’s always a pain when equipment dies in the middle of recording. But when this headphone amp gave up the ghost last night, I could only nod my head in respect. I bought this almost 30 years ago - probably because it was cheap. It was almost always powered on, and everything I recorded went through it. It was a champ. RIP, headphone amp.

This Mendocino baritone from was featured in EP284. It sold out of within days, but never really left my mind. So, a year and a half later, when its owner was ready to part with it, I gave it a new home :)

New Guitar Day! When I ordered this Flyweight Shirley from Boot over I asked if he could match the grey of a typical plastic trash bin. Boot calls it Brute Grey, and I think he nailed it. Thanks!
