Northwest Folklife 2026 Spirit of Indonesia Showcase. Many thanks to all the performers, family, friends, and community who helped make this happen! Special thanks to Indonesian Cultural Association and our guests Aang Suharjo, Faizal Daoed, Pak Otong and Bu Holly.
Last year after our Folklife performance, some of the dancers said, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could perform with other Indonesian groups in Seattle at Folklife someday?” Somehow I replied, “Sure, I’ll organize that,” without really realizing what I was getting myself into.
What I didn’t realize was how naturally everything would come together because of the way the Indonesian community works with everyone pitching in. I rarely even had to ask for help. People would notice a need and simply step up to make it happen. Watching this showcase unfold has been such a beautiful reminder of the spirit of gotong royong: sharing the burden and building something together. Terima kasih semua!
