Our Story

James Baldwin tells us that... story is impelled by the necessity to reveal itself. Griot Girlz purpose is to provide programs, projects and performances that give space for the story to be shared. We water the roots anchored in our past in order to understand our present experiences and shape our future. We infuse cultural practices of the African diaspora into the work we do. Standing on a platform of multi media and the performing we embrace the possibilities of expression through dance, music and theater.

As artists and teachers we understand the power of creation, of being creative, and want to share this power with all that we encounter.
