We are thrilled to be hosting this special 4th of July event at Magnuson Park ampitheater. An alternative to traditional celebrations of this day, we will explore the theme of inner freedom and what it means to be free in the soul. We’ll have a cultural presentation of kirtan, an ancient practice of sacred songs and chants, as well as stories from the wisdom texts of India by our special guest, Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Maharaja. This event is part of the Seattle Parks & Recreation Performing Arts Initiative. It is free and open to all!

“A potência da mulher tem que ser despertada: nari-shakti-jagao! Levantemos a bandeira da mãe lá no alto, da potência da mulher!” 🙋‍♀️🚺

🪷 “Sadhu-sanga is an injection for conditioned souls.”

A conditioned soul suffers from a disease of forgetfulness—forgetfulness of Krsna, of our eternal identity, and of our relationship with the Divine.

Just as a powerful medicine enters the body and begins its work from within, sadhu-sanga enters the heart and gradually transforms consciousness.

By associating with genuine saints, hearing their hari-katha, serving them, and observing their example, our attraction to temporary things begins to fade and our natural attraction to Krsna awakens.

This is why the scriptures repeatedly glorify sadhu-sanga as the root of all spiritual advancement. Even a moment of genuine association can change the direction of one’s life forever.

✨ What does lasting happiness actually look like?
Not just fleeting moments of pleasure.
Not another distraction.
Not another achievement that leaves us wanting more.

For thousands of years, the Bhakti Yoga tradition of India has explored one of humanity’s deepest questions:
How do we find a happiness that lasts?

This July, Seattle has a rare opportunity to hear from Srila Bhaktivedanta Vana Goswami Maharaja, a traditional monk, teacher, and author who has spent nearly three decades sharing the timeless wisdom of Bhakti Yoga throughout the world.

Teachings of Prahalad Maharaja

Vana Madhuryam, Bhakti Chakor, Hare Krishna, Mahavatar Narasimha,

Based on the lectures by Srila Gurudeva Tridandi Swami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedant Vana Gosvami Maharaja Ji

Teachings of Prahlada Maharaja
(From Nrisimha–Prahlada Katha)

1. Begin bhakti from childhood
Start spiritual life early—Prahlada taught that bhagavata-dharma should begin from a young age.
2. Hear hari-katha
Hearing about the Lord nourishes the soul—even Prahlada received spiritual strength in the womb by hearing from Narada Rishi.
3. Seek sadhu and guru
By serving guru and staying in saintly association, the heart awakens in devotion.
4. Practice the nine processes of bhakti
Hear, chant, remember, serve the Lord’s feet, worship, pray, serve, befriend Him, and fully surrender.
5. See the Lord everywhere
Prahlada fearlessly declared that the Lord is present everywhere—even in a pillar.
6. Pray for the welfare of all
Prahlada asked for no personal reward—only mercy for his father and all living beings.
