What goes on in Savannah during the summer? Not much! - Folks try and stay cool, catch up on some backyard visiting, and read a couple of novels. Following this time honored tradition, Emergent Savannah is going into hibernation during the months of June, July and August. We’ll maintain our electronic presence—inviting people from all walks and wheels of life to tell us what matters to them—as Savannahians. Look for our ‘public face’ again on Monday September 10th with Monday Means Community.

Meet the Panelists for Monday Means Community: The Emerging Shape of Sav

Stephen M Plunk — Stephen is a Savannah love child. Well, let me put that into perspective. His parents visited Savannah, fell in love with our town, and moved here. Stephen attended our local public schools, graduating from the Savannah Arts Academy and then attending the University of Ga, majoring in Political Science. He had the good sense to return to Savannah, avoiding the siren’s call to Atlanta, and now works for Old Towne Trolley. Stephen plays a leadership role in the Savannah Young Republicans, the South of Derenne Avenue (SODA)Business Network, among other civic activities. Stephen caught our eye when he led the Savannah Young Republicans to visit a worship service in a mosque in Savannah during the most virulent anti-immigration period in recent history.

Meet the Panelist for Monday Means Community: The Emerging Shape of Sav

Van Johnson currently serves on the City Council of Savannah. Van has mentored hundreds of our young people through his tireless work with the Chatham County Youth Commission and is well known for his musical talents as well. Van is not one to ‘go along to get along’, but at the same time knows that good government requires people finding ways to go forward. Van represents the back side of the baby boom on our panel.

Meet the Panelist for Monday Means Community: The Emerging Shape of Sav!

Brooks Stillwell currently serves as the attorney for the City of Savannah. He has served on City Council in past decades and has been involved in Savannah’s growth, as a real estate attorney for over 40 years. Brooks was kind enough to be our first Emergent Savannah speaker 3 years ago and was interviewed by Clinton Edminster, who played his piano in the process. As about the video tape!! Brooks brings deep history and current information to our panel.
