Platte Valley Arts Council Our mission: to foster awareness of and participation in any form of the arts with the aim of developing vibrant and cohesive communities.

The Platte Valley Art's Council consists of a volunteer Board of Directors that sets policies and implements projects and events for the general public, students, artists and its members. The PVAC strives to recognize and promote all forms and levels of Art; visual, musical, theatrical, dance, and literary in the Platte Valley consisting of the communities of Saratoga, Encampment, Riverside & Ryan

Park, Wyoming. The PVAC is keeping a watchful eye towards new and cutting edge work and advocates the importance of the Arts in our lives each and every day. The Platte Valley Arts Council is a non-profit corporation established in 1993 to promote, encourage, and support all forms of the arts. The Council’s mission is to enrich the quality of life of the area, and to expand the basis for the arts in the surrounding communities through increased educational opportunities in order to contribute to the long-term cultural and economic strengths of our beautiful area. The Platte Valley Arts Council has over twenty years of experience developing and implementing cultural programs. The organization plays a vital role in the communities of Saratoga, Encampment and Riverside by providing events and projects that increase the quality of life and economic stability of the Upper North Platte River Valley in southeastern Wyoming. The council is well-known in the state for its excellence (having won the prestigious Governor’s Art Award in 1997) and fortitude. The renowned “Platte Valley Festival of the Arts” was produced for eighteen years and included a juried Fine Art Show, Fine Craft Show, Children’s Art Workshop, cowboy poetry, book readings, musical entertainment, artist quick draw and auction and a Patron Gala. Each year, three scholarships are awarded to area high school students who demonstrate a life-long involvement in the Arts. The Gabe Springsteen Memorial Scholarship is named for the very first recipient of the scholarship. Partnerships have been established with the Saratoga Middle High and Encampment High Schools, Platte Valley Community Center, the Saratoga and Grand Encampment Museums, and the Encampment Community Choir. The PVAC has also collaborated with the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce and other not-for-profit organizations in the area.

The Wyoming Music Education Association announced on August 30, 2026 that the Platte Valley Arts Council has been selected their State of Wyoming “Give A Note” award for the support of music in the schools. The award will be presented at the Wyoming Music Education Association Banquet in Evanston on January 18, 2027. The Arts Council wants to extend our thanks to Mrs. Ivy Palmer and Saratoga & Encampment schools for the nomination in addition to all of the Patrons & Donors.

The Platte Valley Arts Council and local photographer Liz Wood hosts a Photography Workshop to capture the Perseid Meteor Showers on August 12, 2026. Workshop cost is $125 and includes a PowerPoint Presentation & setting up attendees individual cameras and then four hours of capturing the event. Class is limited to 15 people.
