COMING UP… the NEXT Art.Work.Space. Youth Workshop: Everyday Sketching: Intro to Watercolor & Ink Sketching with Artist Ottavia Huang! Happening on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from Noon – 3 p.m. Register (free) at the link below by Thursday, 6/11!
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeXPy1Hg6vbhd3_DW4BoaU-xZBuZZsk4lnJRE3YBiH7_wZq4A/viewform

🎨 About the workshop: Discover the joy of everyday sketching through watercolor and ink! This beginner-friendly introduction explores simple ways to capture daily moments, from cozy coffee shops and favorite corners to plants, pets, and scenes from everyday life. Learn how loose ink lines and watercolor washes can help you sketch quickly, observe more deeply, and find beauty in the ordinary.

Participants will create a small watercolor and ink sketch using provided or personal reference photos. The focus is on observation, storytelling, and enjoying the process rather than perfection. Perfect for beginners, curious creatives, and anyone interested in slowing down and documenting everyday life through art. No prior sketching experience required.

🎨 About the Artist: Ottavia Huang is a watercolor artist based in Ballston Lake, creating expressive, on-location sketches that capture the quiet beauty of everyday life. Born and raised in Indonesia, she later lived in Taiwan for graduate studies and an academic career, shaping her perspective on culture, place, and human connection. Her work combines loose, intuitive lines with layered washes of color to document streetscapes and fleeting moments with warmth and authenticity. An admin of the Albany chapter of the global Urban Sketchers community, Ottavia leads workshops and community projects, encouraging others to slow down, observe closely, and find meaning in everyday moments.

🖌 The workshop is free, and there is limited space in order to foster a proactive learning environment.

Registration is REQUIRED. No prior knowledge or experience in the arts is necessary. Please include a valid email with registration. All youth aged 13 - 18 are invited to attend. If you have someone younger interested, please email Emily at [email protected]

With support from The RED Bookshelf and Honest Weight Food Co-op.
