COME FIND WHISPERS OF WARPAINT AT THE ROUTE 66 BLOWOUT THIS SATURDAY! πŸπŸš˜πŸ“š
This Saturday, September 12th, Downtown Sapulpa is going to be PACKED for the Route 66 Blowout, and WWBB will have a little set up right outside The Route Cellar from 12–4 PM!
I’ll have a table full of Blind Date with a Book Bundles ready to go, so while you’re walking Dewey checking out all the gorgeous classic cars, come say hi, browse some books, and talk bookish nonsense with me for a bit ❀️
Then, when you need to escape this Oklahoma heat for a minute, just head on inside! The Route Cellar is FULL of amazing Oklahoma-made products to explore, and just a few doors down, Smith's 66 Mercantile has two floors worth of treasures to wander through including more Whispers of Warpaint book bundles! Our bundles make great gifts, although I fully support buying yourself one because you survived walking around downtown in this weather. πŸ˜‚πŸ₯΅
Also, if you’ve been seeing all the posts about The Storykeepers Society, our local book club, and wondering what in the world we’re doing over there, COME TALK TO ME! I’d love to meet you, tell you about it, our upcoming events, and some of the things we’re working on for the future.

πŸ“š A little WWBB update because apparently I disappeared for three days after book club. πŸ˜…
I promise I am still here! After such an incredible first Storykeepers Society meeting this weekend, things have been moving VERY quickly behind the scenes.
Both of our local WWBB bookshelves could use another good restock, and I'm working on more Blind Date with a Book bundles in the evenings this week. My goal is to have both locations stocked back up by Sunday, so keep an eye out if you've been waiting for more! πŸ“šβ€οΈ
I'm juggling quite a few things right now between being a mom, school, WWBB, figuring out the logistics of a Storykeepers Society that has decided it would like to become a small army πŸ˜‚, and several other projects I'm incredibly excited about.
One of those projects is especially important.
Through our BPA organization at Central Tech, I'm getting ready to help launch a community fundraising campaign benefiting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and pediatric cancer research. πŸ’›
I don't want to give away everything quite yet because we're still getting all the pieces in place, but I'll have much more to share very soon, including ways our WWBB/Storykeepers community and local Sapulpa businesses can get involved.
So if I'm a little quieter than usual this week, I haven't gone anywhere. I'm just over here making books, going to school, raising children, planning events, answering approximately 247 book-club notifications, and trying to do some good in the world somewhere in between. 🌈
More books are coming. And something pretty special is coming too Sapulpa. βπŸŽ—οΈ

We did a thing today, Sapulpa. πŸ₯ΉπŸ“š
Our very first Storykeepers Society Book Club meeting is officially in the books, and we are still a little stunned by what happened.
More than 30+ readers showed up.
We filled the room. We ran out of goodie bags. We pulled in more chairs. We talked about Fourth Wing, debated characters and theories, laughedβ€”a LOTβ€”and watched people who walked in as strangers start talking to each other about books like they'd known each other for years.
And honestly? That was the whole point.
Whispers of Warpaint Book Bar has always been about more than selling books. The dream has been to create spaces where stories bring people together and people feel safe just being who they are, where you can walk in by yourself and still feel like you belong.
Today, we got to watch a little piece of that dream become real. πŸ’•
To every single person who came: thank you. Thank you for showing up, participating, bringing your personalities and opinions, offering to volunteer at future events, donating books, supporting WWBB, and giving this brand-new little book club a chance.
And a huge thank-you to everyone who stepped in and helped us pull things together today. It truly took a village, especially when we realized just how many Storykeepers were coming through that door. πŸ˜‚
This was only meeting #1, and we've already got ideas brewing for bigger discussions, activities, themed gatherings, immersive bookish events around Sapulpa, and plenty more.
Next up?
September belongs to the THRILLERS. πŸ”ͺπŸ“š
Our Storykeepers group will be nominating books and voting on our next selection soon, so if you've been watching from the sidelines thinking about joining us…
This is your invitation!
You don't have to know anyone. You don't have to be an expert reader. You don't even have to finish the book. πŸ˜‚ Come talk stories, meet some people, and pull up a chair.
Although judging by today's turnout, we may need to find a lot more chairs. πŸ˜‚πŸ’•
Thank you, Sapulpa. This was so very special to me.

πŸ“šβœ¨ A QUICK UPDATE FROM WWBB! βœ¨πŸ“š

Unfortunately, we won't be able to set up at the Burnett Mansion event tonight as planned. Some ongoing home maintenance issues have decided they require my immediate attention today because apparently my house continues to enjoy a good last-minute plot twist. πŸ₯²πŸ

BUT please don't let our absence stop you from going! There is still SO much happening over there tonight, including a cool car show, a giant cake, a kids' zone, lots of local vendors, and plenty of fun to check out at the beautiful Burnett Mansion! πŸŽ‚πŸš—πŸŽ‰

We hate to miss out, but we're grateful to have been invited and hope to join them for another event soon.

In the meantime, you can still find our Blind Date with a Book Bundles locally at The Route Cellar and Smith's 66 Mercantile. πŸ“šπŸͺΆ

So while I stay home and convince my house to please stop creating these ridiculous side quests, go enjoy the festivities and show some love to all of the wonderful local vendors who will be there tonight! πŸ’›

Have fun, Sapulpa! πŸ₯°

Today was one of those days that reminded me why I started Whispers of Warpaint Book Bar in the first place. πŸ₯ΉπŸ“š

I got to meet the lovely Debra Chandler, the winner of our Blind Date with a Book Bundle giveaway, and deliver her bundle in person today! I may have shown up a little flushed, frazzled, and running purely on caffeine and determination πŸ˜‚ but she could not have been sweeter or more supportive.

We had a little chat about books and some exciting things she has coming up! Hearing her enthusiasm for what I'm doing with WWBB genuinely meant so much to me. πŸ’›

Debra is going to do an unwrapping of her mystery bundle over on her personal page, and I'll be sharing it here afterward because I cannot WAIT to see her reaction when she finally discovers which book is hiding inside. πŸ‘€πŸ“– I really hope you love it, Debra!

And speaking of books...

I also stopped by The Route Cellar to restock a bit today and nearly fell over when I saw our shelf. πŸ˜‚ You guys have been BUSY! There were only FOUR bundles left, so I added everything I had ready today and clearly I need to get back to my wrapping table ASAP. I'll be adding more there and at Smith's 66 Mercantile on Tuesday evening.

Every bundle purchased, every share, every kind comment and every person who tells someone else about our little book business means more than you know.

Thank you for continuing to give these books new homes and helping this little dream grow. πŸ–€πŸ“š

Happy reading, Debra! And congratulations again! πŸŽ‰

πŸ“š RESTOCK INCOMING! πŸ“š

Y’all have been keeping our shelves BUSY lately, and we’ve gotten word that some of our selections are getting a little bare. πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚
So I’ll be spending some quality time with books, wrapping paper, and entirely too much tape getting fresh Blind Date with a Book bundles ready for you!

🌿 The Route Cellar will be RESTOCKED Sunday (tomorrow) afternoon!

πŸ›οΈ Smith's 66 Mercantile will be RESTOCKED late Tuesday afternoon!

And yes, we heard you. More fantasy bundles are incoming. πŸ‰βœ¨πŸ“š

Every single bundle that leaves one of these shelves still makes me ridiculously happy. Thank you for continuing to shop small, support local, and give all these books new homes.

Keep clearing those shelves and I’ll keep filling them. πŸ˜‰

P.S. If there’s a genre you want to see more of, drop it in the comments! I’m paying attention. πŸ‘€

A quick note about AI & Whispers of Warpaint! πŸ“šπŸ€–πŸŽ€

Alright, so I'm going to post about this just once here as I've seen a couple of comments, and have even received a personal, quite disturbing πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ, message regarding my occasional use of AI-generated images for WWBB. I wanted to address it because I actually understand where the concern comes from, I really do.

I absolutely 100% support artists, writers, designers and other creatives being paid for their work. If we're talking about corporations or established businesses with marketing budgets choosing AI simply because it's cheaper than paying a human artist, I understand the criticism.

But Whispers of Warpaint isn't a corporation with a marketing department. It's me. πŸ˜‚ I'm literally just a girl who loves tea & books. πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I'm a single mom raising two boys, including a child with additional support needs. I'm back in school, managing a household, building this business from the ground up, and currently operating on a budget where even a Canva subscription isn't something I can justify every month & have even less time to become skilled at it quickly.

I am, however, a creative person with approximately 87 ideas in my head at any given moment and absolutely no graphic-design department to hand them to.
So yes, I have used and will continue to use AI as a tool to help me turn those ideas into a flyer, an event graphic, or an image for a post that I otherwise wouldn't have the time or money to create. I will do so until I have the resources and contacts to do otherwise.

I understand that some people choose not to support AI-generated imagery at all, and I respect that. I also hope there can be some room in this conversation for very small businesses starting up and people who simply don't have access to the resources larger organizations do.

As WWBB grows, I would love to reach a point where I can commission local artists and designers and actually put money back into the creative community that I love. That's a goal for me okay it is not something I'm opposed to at all! Until then though, I'm working with the resources I have on hand.

If a local artist or designer ever wants to volunteer or collaborate on something with WWBB, my door is absolutely open. But I also won't ask creative people to work for free simply because I can't currently afford their rates. Their time and talent have value, too.

Whispers of Warpaint has always been about stories, creativity, community and making something meaningful out of what you have. Right now, this is part of how I'm doing that. β€οΈπŸ“š

Goodnight and thanks for giving this little one-woman operation some grace while I slowly build it up, piece by piece. 🫢🏼πŸ₯Ή
