And more importantly get to know a respected journalist and ask them about their code of ethics they had to partake in before becoming a journalist.

And vote as if your democracy depended on it, because it does. 💪🏼

Sioux Falls 6th grader Emerson Weber has a book coming out in January 2021. I have followed the Weber family since for a long time as I used to live in Sioux Falls. Emerson’s mom is a teacher.

I can’t wait to get a copy of the book.

Stephanie Wiley is bearing her soul about her son's battle with addiction.

I'm so honored to be her friend, she is bringing to light what so many don't know or talk about.

"I’ve had a few conversations in this last week that have touched on this. It kills me to have to qualify Tommy’s death as an accidental overdose. Of course it was accidental! And honestly, how dare anyone assume that it wasn’t just because I may not include the word “accidental” before I say overdose. I’ve been made so much more aware of the terminology that is used in this world and so much more effected by it. My son wasn’t a ju**ie. He wasn’t an addict. He had a disease that killed him. He was a smart, well rounded, well traveled, kind person who had a disease that killed him. I didn’t get to ask him, but I believe with every bit of my being that this was an accident. I’m so mad at this disease. I’m mad that the opioid epidemic in our country isn’t talked about more. I’m mad that I don’t have Tommy here with me. Most of the time I don’t let myself feel this anger because it’s just so very painful. I’m mad that I have to qualify his death. I’m mad that there are qualifiers. I’m mad that ‘recreational pill user’ is a phrase that makes this type overdose seem more acceptable to the general world. I’m sure that Tommy started out as a ‘recreational pill user’, but his addiction went further than that."

Compassion for those suffering through the opioid epidemic and accidental overdoses

This morning my husband asked me, "What are your plans for today?"

"I'm going to make the kids chicken parmesan for lunch."

He smiled paused and said, "OK."

I took a writing class this Summer but it just stressed me out, my makeshift office is in the middle of our living room, which is adjacent to the kitchen.

I find I'm a calmer mom when I'm just not trying to be creative. Today at my big outing, the local bookstore with my daughter, an older woman said to me, "Where is Matilda? That's the name of my walker. I broke my hip and have been home since February and I think I'm going crazy. I called my daughter up and said, come get me dressed and get me out of here."

That's the vibe and I get it.

I have been fortunate enough to meet Deva of MyLifeSuckers by Deva Dalporto over the years and I'm a big fan of hers. I enjoyed what her post and wanted to share.

Oops, I hear a truck, the other big excitement of the day, seeing what packages arrive, have to run.

I can’t work. Every time I turn my attention to my career these days, I get interrupted. My son can’t find his social studies printout or the zoom link for Spanish class won’t work or the internet is down or someone needs a snack. The interruptions are endless. For the past 15 years I’ve had...

Congratulations to dad on winning

My kids and I binged AGT as we have had so much smoke and heat here.

Watching Brandon’s stunning spoken word was my favorite of the big show. Proving power in sharing our words.

And now to wake my sleeping 9 year-old who stayed up way too late!

Thank you for having me I was able to talk to Liz Svatek, an ExMoShow alum, about the show.

Liz is such a joyful force to be around and listen to. She has been interviewing women to learn more about their passions and their origins.
