20+ years ago, my brother Tyrone Hawkins and I were on a ferry in a truck on our way to work at McNeil Island prison in WA state. It's 6AM and he had just told me another story that had me dying laughing. I told him he should try stand up. He put together three minutes for the contest at Bikini's Bar and never looked back. We both have found there's more to stand up than making your friend laugh on a Tuesday morning, but my guy has persisted and just released his self-produced one-hour special on Youtube. Please go run it up. This is no small feat (pun intended)😉. Congratulations bro! . Keep dreaming

This used to be 7-11. When I was 6 or 7, me and my friends got caught shoplifting here. I embarrassed my grandmother. Probably why I never grew up to steal. Lol. This neighborhood is changing fast. I don't know if it's for the better or worse. I do know my family has had a house on this block since the 1950s, and when I return, I remember that acknowledging my roots is important. Now I understand.
