Our next senior from class of 2026 is Alex!
“Hi, my name is Alex (the one whose last name starts with a P), and I have been in band since the 4th grade (thats like 8 years). I was a trombone player when I started band but switched to percussion because it looked more fun and I thought it would be easier. I have made many memories in band, from the activites we did in band camp and the football seasons, to the band performances we did around our community and the little side quests I would have with friends in the band. If I were to choose my favorite one, it has to be our trip to Chicago. It was such a great time hanging out with friends while exploring a city outside of California and I am forever grateful for that experience, especially since it was my first time out of state. After high school, I plan to go to Allan Hancock College and hopefully transfer to a 4-year university to major in history (and maybe minor in music but who knows🤷‍♂️). A piece of advice I would give to current/future members is to just have fun and enjoy band. Time can go by fast without you realizing, so try your best to live life and enjoy your time in band while you are in high school. Ok, thats it.”

Our next senior from class of 2026 is Marlen!
“Hello!! My name is Marlen Mendez, this was my first year in band and in color guard. My favorite memories from band would be the football games and being able to go to Chicago which was truly a wonderful experience. I also loved spending time with some of my closest friends, which made this experience even more special. I am very grateful for all the friends I made along the way and the memories we were able to create. After highschool, I will be attending UC Irvine to study Biomedical Engineering:PreMedical to become a doctor.
My message to current and future members don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things. Most importantly, make sure to enjoy every moment, because time goes by quickly.”

After high school, I plan to attend Hancock and major in biology to transfer to Fresno State and study pre vet science. Our next senior from class of 2026 is Monica! “Hi, my name is Monica Martinez. My musical journey started back in fourth grade with the flute, which I still love playing during concert season, but I started playing tenor sax for marching band. Over the years, this program has introduced me to so many incredible people across every section. But I am truly grateful for my section, without them it would be pretty dull. My absolute favorite memory has to be our trip to Chicago. It was my first time leaving the state, and getting to explore a new city with the people I care about was an opportunity I’ll never forget. A piece of advice to current/future members I would give is to be yourself and stay in the moment. These years really do fly by, so make every second count especially with your friends!” 🎓❤️

Our next senior from class of 2026 is Yosgart Mata! “Hey, my name is Yosgart Mata and I’m in the drumline section, where I’ve been section leader 3 years. After high school, I plan to attend Cal Poly SLO to further enrich my academic knowledge. My favorite band memories are winning 1st place overall in percussion during comp this past marching season and also playing at the basketball games for pep band. I am very thankful and blessed to have been able to be apart of this band and be able to perform with everyone that is also part of it. I’m grateful for all the great friends that I made and all the fun times and memories we were able to create. To everyone still in band and anyone joining, make the best of your time with all your friends and band mates, because time really does fly by.”
