I was just hit with a very sad and shocking news just now that one of the most influential creative minds in the indie community, my friend Michael MahalEmpire has passed away. π
I met Michael and his brother, Sonny, at their Bloodthirst movie premiere here in LA last year. Very nice and truly amazing people to talk to. I've been friends with Michael mostly virtually, and even though I didn't know him a lot in person--I felt in many ways that I did. Michael was very insightful, and very knowledgeable about the movie making business. A Rockstar in his craft. I always enjoyed reading his daily motivational posts, his advice about films, and crowdfunding tips.
I am very proud to have been a part of three of their amazing features, Cursed Waters, Alien Storm, and Bickers vs Werewolves. ππ½ I will forever be grateful for them to have allowed me to be a part of their legacy.
Michael, thank YOU for your magnificent advice, and insights. I still recall taking so many notes just listening to you in one of your workshops. Thank you for the motivation, and for your inspiring journey. One of a kind soul. Truly. Thank you for everything. You are a role model, my brother. That is why I am still shocked about this news. I still can't believe it.
I can only hope and pray that I can apply what I've learned from you in my own movies, and in my own journey into this world. I can only hope that I can do my best and apply every bit of advice that you shared with us.
My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to you, your amazing brother, Sonny, and to all of your friends and loved ones. You will never be forgotten. Your works will live on forever my brother. May God keep you in His Kingdom, and watch over your entire family.
Sonny, I am here for you if you need anything.
Long live the Mahal Empire.
