Wonder if anyone will see this if I don't buy an ad.

Here's a list of memorable music that has enriched my existence in my time on this planet, or at least from 1951 to 2020.

The late great Merry Prankster Ken Kesey was born on this day 1935 in La Junta Colorado. Probably best known for is novel “One Flew over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” it was his legendary Acid Test parties down the SF peninsula in La Honda with the house band The Warlocks which he and fellow pranksters hosted after their return from the cross country trip on their dayglo painted school bus called “Furthur” (popularized in Tom Wolfe’s Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test), that solidly launched the psychedelic 60s. The Warlocks in short order would change their name to the Grateful Dead...

Ken Kesey on Allen Ginsberg:
“Back in (19)66 or (19)67, we took the bus up to Berkeley for Vietnam Day. The day before the big rally, the Hell’s Angels said they were going to protest Vietnam Day by pounding the s**t out of the protestors, and they were serious. Since we kind of knew the Angels, we went over to Oakland, to Sonny Barger‘s house. Ginsberg went with us, right into the lion’s mouth with his little cymbals. Ching, ching ching. And he just kept talking and being his usual absorbing self. Finally they said, “OK, OK, We’re not going to beat up the protesters’. When he left, one of the Angels, Terry the Tramp, says, “That q***r little k**e ought to ride a bike. From then on, he had a pass around the Angels. They had let all the other Angels know. “He’s a dude worth helping out”. They were absolutely impressed by him and his courage.”

So in 5 minutes on Faceplant, I have been tagged in 3 tshirt offers, one for a car, another for a tiny house. There are a dozen friend requests from people I don't know and I'm not accepting anyone because they look sketchy. Yesterday I saw a crypto plug on a friend's site, and called him (remember talking to people on the phone?), and he told me his entire profile got cloned, FB ignored him, he's hired an attorney and they've contacted the FBI, but no action. Bots are blocking perfectly innocent posts and the bad s**t runs rampant. FB chokes my posts linking to stories on my website because I don't buy ads. About done.

My friend Todd Everett's Faceplant account has been hacked. He's not selling anything. This platform is wack.

The night after Kinky Friedman finished recording “The Loneliest Man I Ever Met,” between the epic floods of spring 2015, the Texas-based singer-songwriter, humorist, entrepreneur, and raconteur played the rough mixes for a couple of visitors to Echo Hill -- Boyd Elder Artlaw and me.

Texas singer-songwriter Kinky Friedman lands at McCabe's in Santa Monica on tour backing his new album, 'The Loneliest Man I ever Met.'
