Santa Barbara Festival Ballet

Our dedicated faculty offer superior training and an individualized approach to nurturing unique and confident dancers. Enrollment begins for children 3+.

We continue to honor our strong roots in the community each year by presenting our cherished Nutcracker at the historic Arlington Theatre. We combine a rigorous training program for students of all ages and abilities in a nurturing, educational environment along with opportunities for performance from beginner to pre-professional. Advanced-level dancers not only perform in our annual Nutcracker at

the Arlington Theatre with a live symphony, but also adjudicate choreography and attend the annual The Ballet Alliance conference. At the TBA Conference, company members participate with dancers from over 20 similar pre-professional companies, training with master teachers and performing for and attending performances by their peers. Alaine Habuert, Founding director of the ABT Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, has been associated with American Ballet Theatre since 1965 as a dancer, Ballet Mistress, director of Summer Intensives, advisor for the ABT National Training Curriculum, adjudicator, and coach. She received her pre professional training at the School of American Ballet with George Balanchine. With ABT she toured the world and danced the ABT repertory, working directly with numerous choreographers, including Antony Tudor, Jerome Robbins, and Agnes de Mille. For 10 years, Ms. Haubert was a principal artist with the Joffrey Ballet, working closely with Leonide Massine, Kurt Joss, Alvin Ailey , Gerald Arpino, and Robert Joffrey. Alaine Haubert brings to her classes a wealth of knowledge, extensive professional and coaching experience at the highest level, and a keen eye to technical detail.

The Zena Rommett Floor Barre is a gentle, highly effective therapeutic method of body work to correct, strengthen, and align the body without the pressure of gravity. It is excellent for dancers and athletes as well as the injured.

🏆 SBFB's Friday Level 1 class receives this year's SBFB Audience Award! We loved every minute of this heartfelt performance, especially the synchronicity in movement and ridiculously joyful smiles ! Congratulations dancers and a huge thank you to Ms. Maddie!

Mei-Ling is a classically trained ballet and contemporary dancer from the Bay
Area and Hawai’i. She trained with American Ballet Theatre, The Ailey School,
and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and received a BFA from the
University of Arizona School of Dance. Her professional career spanned eight
years as a freelance performance artist in San Francisco, and five seasons as a
soloist for New Orleans Ballet Theatre. She has danced works by George
Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, Ohad Nahirin, James Clouser, Robert Moses, Alex Ketley,
and Maurice Causey. Her commercial credits include dancing with Arcade Fire’s
Kanaval, TEDxSan Francisco, and television appearances on Disney, FOX, and
the CW.
