Dj Matic born Reginald Best Jr. is an American Dj / Producer / Rapper and Musician from Sanford, North Carolina. As fate would have it, Dj Matic was born on the go, because his mother Cynthia McEachin, went into labor with him while driving while moving from Viginia Beach, Virginia to be closer to her family; since her then husband Reginald Best Sr. Dj matics father was out to sea in the US Navy. At age nine he taught himself to play the drums; and begin playing for Ebenezer Gospel Assembly church.Some people were amazed by this, but music is in his blood because Dj Matic is the grandson of the late Eddie Bess half of the national recording duet called 'Gene and Eddie' from Washington, DC with the hit record called ‘Let Me Go Easy” written and produced by Eddie . When Dj Matic was in
the sixth grade he seen the orchestra class during thier practice; he was amazed at how they knew what to play from just those dots; he felt like they must be geniuses to do that. The next week he was a student in that orchestra class, simply to learn how to read sheet music. At the age of fifteen Dj Matic was sent to Baltimore Maryland to live with his father and get his life on track because he had already been to jail and now on probation. This is when he decided to get back into his love of music. He quickly became the ‘dj' for his crew of friends he had. In a rap session they had one day Dj Matic actually got on the microphone and freestyle too; the crew encouraged him to start rapping more because they think he is good at it. At age twenty Dj Matic moved back to North Carolina because trouble was slowly finding
its way back into Dj Matics life. Dj Matic joined up with some old friends from childhood named Randy Kinney (Bread), and Kirston Makell (Blow) and created the rap trio TBU aka The Big Unit. TBU went on to do some cool things like have a local following in three counties, they opened up shows for Gucci Mane, Rich Homie Quan, Pastor Troy, Louisiana Cash to name a few, and won a few local contests and battles. TBU even had a few offers to sign to some independent labels. Once the buzz fizzled out and creative ideas begin to change the group faded away and each member went solo. Dj Matic decided to go back to his roots and begin being a Dj after he played on the Dj for his Holloween party dj set up.
