1986 was a productive time for me,artistically.
I left Santa Clara,San Jose,in the Spring and moved back in with my parents in Danville. West Danville. It was a lovely house in a lovely area. I had nowhere else to go.
My mother didn't mind. My eight year old half brother Steven didn't mind.
It was Arthur,my stepfather,that would have preferred I go get on with my life somewhere else. Maybe I didn't belong,but I liked it there anyway.
I felt delivered from that gigantic Santa Clara Valley where good breaks and good luck was nowhere to be found. At least not for me.
I would not settle in on oil paints until five years later,in 1991, after a trip to Monterey during a dark time in my life.
But in 1986 I was twenty three years old when I drew the drawings posted here. I didn't have a pot to p**s in but I was content in this new town. I found a job and bought myself a bass guitar and an Amp.
Rock & Roll was the order of the day.
Poor Arthur.
