There’s still time to find your place in the Chorus.

The San Francisco Boys Chorus will hold placement appointments on Saturday, September 12 at all four Bay Area locations:

San Francisco • Emeryville • San Mateo • San Rafael

Boys ages 5–12 are encouraged to come in for placement, and boys with changed voices may also be considered for the Graduate Chorale.

With the 2026–2027 season beginning September 9–10, now is a wonderful time to join SFBC.

Choristers enjoy:

• 1–2 after-school rehearsals each week
• Summer music camp included
• Domestic and international summer tours
• Exceptional musical training and performance opportunities
• Tuition assistance available for qualifying families

Placement appointments are designed to help each singer find the ensemble that best fits his voice and experience.

During SFBC’s five-day San Francisco camp, Junior and Apprentice choristers strengthen their voices while exploring chimes, music theory, movement, and the Orff method. Through singing, rhythm, instruments, and creative play, young musicians build confidence, curiosity, and the joy of creating alongside one another.

Come sing with SFBC! On Saturday, September 12, the San Francisco Boys Chorus will hold placement appointments at all four Bay Area locations for boys interested in joining the Chorus.

These appointments are a chance for us to meet each young singer, hear his voice, and find the ensemble where he can learn, grow, and feel at home. No previous singing experience is needed.

SFBC offers exceptional choral training for boys ages 5 and older, with opportunities that can extend from weekly rehearsals and summer music camp to performances with organizations including San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Symphony.

During their five-day camp in San Francisco, our Junior and Apprentice choristers strengthen their voices while exploring chimes, music theory, movement, and the Orff method.

The Orff approach invites children to learn through singing, rhythm, instruments, movement, and creative play, making musicianship active, joyful, and collaborative.

Between classes, there is also time to laugh, move, and build friendships. Together, these experiences help young choristers develop confidence, curiosity, and the joy of making music with others.

The Handbell Program gives choristers and alumni the opportunity to build music reading skills, explore handbell and hand chime techniques, and experience the focus and teamwork required of ensemble performance.

From beginning players to the Advanced Performing Group, handbells offer another way for SFBC musicians to listen, collaborate, and grow.

Every performance gives our choristers more than a chance to sing. Performing is part of how they learn to stand tall, listen carefully, support one another, and share something meaningful with an audience.

Each concert, ceremony, and community performance gives our singers another opportunity to grow, not only as musicians, but as young people discovering what they are capable of.

The San Francisco Boys Chorus begins its new season on September 9–10, 2026, welcoming returning choristers for another year of music, growth, performance, and tradition.

For families interested in joining SFBC, New Chorister Placement Appointment Day will take place on September 12, 2026.

Since 1948, the San Francisco Boys Chorus has trained boys to enjoy music, perform in public, and take part in opportunities throughout the Bay Area, including productions with the San Francisco Opera. Through vocal training, music appreciation, handbells, and age-specific performance experience, choristers become part of a long-standing tradition that offers a lifetime of memories.

Boys ages 5–14 are eligible to apply. No experience is required for boys in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and boys age 5, who are automatically accepted into the Junior Choruses for a trial period.

Rehearsal and placement appointment locations are available in:
San Francisco
East Bay
Marin
South Bay

Tuition Assistance and payment plans are available at all levels.

Founded in 1948, SFBC has spent generations helping boys discover the discipline, joy, confidence, and community that music can bring.
