You’ve seen Brandt Fuse’s SumoFish t-shirts worn by many at festivals, various neighborhoods, heck everywhere! He’s one of Jtown’s artists that has created amazing graphics for restaurants, festivals and even our street lamp banners.

We’re so proud of him and his collab with the San Francisco Giants. Brandt is such a humble guy always giving back to the community.

We are beyond excited to share that the new “Monster Island” mural inside the Japan Center West Mall was just featured on the Official Godzilla Website!

To see the King of the Monsters’ official team recognize San Francisco Japantown as a “Godzilla Art Destination” is a huge honor for the Japantown and our entire community.

This article dives deep into the story of artist Aaron Gregory’s incredible artwork and how our neighborhood has become a must-visit for kaiju fans worldwide.

At today’s Nihonmachi Street Fair’s Our Community Our Pride Pop-Up event, Japantown not only helped kick off AAAPI Heritage Month with diverse cultural performances, but also honored two small businesses with milestone achievements!

Our District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood presented business owners Victor Lau of Katachi (20 years) and Yukimi Yoshimura of Sophie’s Crepes (26 years) with Certificate of Honors!

Thank you Katachi and Sophie’s Crepes for being part of Japantown’s hard working small business community. It’s businesses like these that make Japantown a destination for all.

A new dawn. A new day. A new chapter in the trilogy. 🔥

Two murals weren’t enough for the King of the Monsters! Today, April 17, we officially welcome “Monster Island”—the 3rd TOHO Godzilla mural to grace SF Japantown.

This community project was a labor of love. Huge thanks to artists, Aaron John Gregory for the vision, Mondo and TOHO International for their partnership, David Hufana for the expert install, the Japantown CBD for the coordination and additional graphic panel, and lastly the Japan Center Malls for again creating a space for the legend.

Come for the art, stay for the neighborhood. Tag in your mural selfies! 📸
