Countdown to Balik Bayou in Louisiana - Philippine American Women’s Association of Louisiana (PAWAL) and BAYOU BARKADA are so excited to announce BALIK BAYOU, a weekend honoring Filipino American history and our land, in partnership with the Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice.
BALIK BAYOU began with a conversation of generations wanting “to return” home, wanting to finally feel seen—not being judged, but lifted by community who aligns with their values.
Many have visited Louisiana, leaving as family, and always returning. Others felt at home here, and began a new journey in the south.
We invite everyone to share space with us as we welcome the first weekend of 🇵🇭Filipino American History Month (FAHM) and Philippines Indigenous Peoples Month by dancing, blessings, food, and performances that will transport you to the Philippine Islands!
