Mason Mason Mason. The base of every chord the Pitchforks sing. You may know him as the Musical Director for the Pitchforks this past year. Or you may have witnessed his resonant bass during our latest show. In rehearsals, his steely aura continues to intimidate the freshmen who have known him for a year now. On stage, his voice and steady hand motions serve as the glue for our group.

When he’s not snapping the beat or singing notes you’d expect to be out of his range, you can find him grinding away to keep his perfect GPA and partying in his free time. His degrees in Biology and Chemistry are stellar achievements which show that his musicality is only matched by his immense brainpower and commanding aura.

Mason has been the catalyst of our rehearsals for the past year. Twice a week he rallies the Pitchforks together for rehearsal and matches voice parts together like pieces of a puzzle. His calm but assertive leadership style has proved to be effective throughout every new piece of reportoire introduced to the group. Next year, he will stay with the Pitchforks for a gap year before heading off to medical school. We can’t wait to have another great year with him! We love you Mace!

Latino smoothness in his voice. It’ll fill you with calma (calm for the English speakers.) Gabriel Mendoza, our fearless baritone and business manager. Always showing up and making sure the Forks don’t go on a spending spree, his voice has a beautiful breathiness and smoothness to it that truly fills the group with a sense of lightness.

While he gets caught up thinking about things, he is a hard worker in and out. Locked in on computer science and economics, this absolute unit of a baritone spent many days interviewing as employers chased after his expertise in finance and data. Outside of his passion for singing, he also has a passion for energy and climate sustainability, wanting to protect and give back to the world the same way he has done for the Pitchforks. He truly has a big heart that pours into the group and especially into his fellow baritones, always wanting to push them to their max.

The forks are truly blessed to have had Gabe be a part for the past 4 years. His calm demeanor and soft spoken manner truly brings a much-needed balance to the group. He cares deeply and makes sure to check on his fellow groupmates if they seem off, always offering a shoulder to lean on and making sure they know they have a brother to talk to. He never fails to make you smile through his charming voice (spoken and sung) and his well delivered jokes. The forks are excited to see all the incredible things Gabriel will accomplish in his years after Duke, bringing light and a breath of fresh air to wherever he goes! We love you Gabe, and you have brothers for life!

Nishant. Namboothiry. Amazing in every way. Bruno Mars 2.0, Nishant carries with his majestic solos. Auto tune??? I think not. That is just Nishant. You may know him from poppy songs such as “Perfect” or “Versace on the Floor” or from powerfully moving performances of “Too Sweet.” No matter how you’ve encountered his awe-inspiring voice, you can immediately tell it’s a once in a lifetime audial experience.

He is a wise father to many T2 children. He takes care of all the tenor 2s that proceed him, only occasionally turning them against each other for his own benefit. When he is not manipulating his T2s, Nishant might be singing with his South Asian a Capella group, studying for difficult Biomedical Engineering classes, or consulting someone on healthcare. As a matter of fact, he will soon go on to be a Healthcare Consultant in the hailed city of Boston, Massachusetts.

Nishant always brings so much joy to the group. He really is the jolliest man imaginable. He can always make a rainy day sunny, turn a frown upside down, or any other colloquial expression that means the exact same thing. He brings so much energy and excitement to the Pitchforks, along with his out of this world voice in solos and backing vocals. We will miss him so much, but know he will do such an amazing job in Boston.

He’s got charm. He’s got cool. He’s Caleb Cavazos, our esteemed baritone. What he lacks in timeliness he makes up for in his poppy presence and perfect pitch. Wowing us all with his bright vowels and vocal charisma, no solo is safe from his incredible artistry.

When he’s not soothing his cold with some Cough Syrup (by Young the Giant), you can catch Caleb being ULTRA locked in. His Economics and Computer Science studies have launched him into the competitive world of Quantitative Finance. Despite his academic achievements and impressive budding career, Caleb manages to keep his status as the most nonchalant member of the Pitchforks.

Caleb has brought so much to the Forks, both in talent and vibes. He always shows up with a smile on his face and a song in his heart, ready to form chords and choruses with this group he makes feel like a family. Always approachable and eager to get to know you better, Caleb fosters community wherever he goes. We can’t wait to see how he brings all these amazing qualities to his future, which is bound to be just as bright as his vowels (and his lovely smile). We love you Caleb!

The time has come for us to say goodbye to our wonderful seniors, and who better to begin with than the incredible Aiden Lo? Journeying all the way from New Taipei, Taiwan (which is apparently right next to the old one), and soon to be off to New York, Aiden is the Forks’ very own Mr. Worldwide. But if you think that makes him love Duke any less, you’ll be in for a rude awakening from the tent check siren. That’s right, not only is he a cornerstone of the Pitchforks’ sound thanks to his soaring falsetto and metallic solos, this line monitor is also a basketball fanatic who lords over Kville with a blue and white painted fist. And don’t be fooled by his slender frame, unless you want this MMA powerhouse to give you firsthand exposure to being on the receiving end of a takedown!

But aside from his enchanting vocals, his precise musical knowledge and technique, his outstanding service to the group as VP of outreach, and his beautiful guitar playing on the dock in Camden, what has Aiden ever really done for us? Well, just by him showing up, his leadership, mentorship, and confidence bring our music to levels previously unheard of, and his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and incredible kindness make every rehearsal with him an absolute joy.

We love you Aiden, and wait can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you. Your jokes which never failed to bring a smile, your leadership which brought the best out of every T1, and your nonchalant yet brotherly spirit, will all be missed dearly, but we know that your team at Deloitte, and whoever life puts in your path from then on, will be unbelievably blessed to have you, just as we were these past four years. Go out and be awesome.
