It Takes A Village.
Thank you to everyone who came out last night to The Holding Company to reap the joy that is Cyril Nevelle, The Uptown Ruler. What a show .. The place was jumpin'.
Shoutout to the Ceder Shakers, they brought the heat that set the tone for a night that was fire.
I'm grateful to Jake Skolnick and the entire staff. For the great sound system and the sound engineer who ran it well

THE BURNSVILLE BAND 20-YEAR REUNION
Chapter 1: The Genesis. And in the beginning, there was a sign
I get asked fairly often why/what’s behind the Burnsville name? Well there’s a little story if ya care to read, it’s not very long, since you asked …
My sister made this sign for my mom for Christmas one year, when we were kids, and it was on the kitchen wall for as long as I can remember. My mom cherished it.
When my mom passed away. I got the sign.
In 2006, as we were assembling a serious band, we searched for the perfect name. As fate would have it, my last name is Burns, and it seemed fitting to incorporate it into the band's name. We were a smoking blues-rock band, and "Burnsville" felt like a fitting choice.
But there's a more sentimental reason behind the name. It's a tribute to my mother, who played a significant role in my musical journey. She arranged for me to take guitar lessons as a child, on the condition that I practice every day. She held me accountable and pushed me to become a better musician. Without her support, I might not have pursued a career in music.
My mother's influence, along with my brother's early encouragement, inspired me to learn guitar and ignited my passion for music. I owe them both a debt of gratitude. So, in a way, Burnsville represents not just my last name, but also the people who believed in me and helped me become the musician I am today. SB

We’re reuniting with special guests, old friends, and all the energy that made our shows legendary.
The Burnsville Band 20th Reunion
Who are the special guests?
Some of the special guests for the Burnsville extravaganza include
Zavala Sol Trio : Opening act featuring Carrie Zavala, Mike VanDuyn. and Karl Dring Carrie will also be performing a few numbers with Burnsville.
Chet Cannon: the original Blues Shouter, and head honcho of Chet and The Committee, sitting in with the band, a well-known figure in San Diego's blues scene.
Jerry "Hot Rod" DeMink: Also sitting in, another familiar face in the local blues community.
Andrew Crane: Joining on bass, an international touring bassist with Vanessa Collier Band.
Scottie Blinn of the famous, iconic band Mississippi Mud Sharks and Black Market III, a member of Burnsville Band's second lineup, is joining on guitar and vocals for the reunion.

This is what Im talkin about !
There was a time when we owned the Gaslamp District.
Walking up 5th Ave from Market Street to A St., the music that drifted out of the clubs into the street was Blues.
Hennessey's Tavern Gaslamp, The Speakeasy, Patricks, Croce's and The House of Blues San Diego, and many smaller clubs in between
On any given night, we could hear several of the bands that dominated San Diegos vibrant blues scene.
Aunt Kizzys Boys, 145th Street,Tom Cat Courtney. Michele Lundeen and Blues Streak,, Len Rainey and the Midnight Players, Chet and The Committee, Jerry "Hot Rod" DeMink Band, Bill Magee Band , Stoney B Blues, DA and the Hitmen, West of Memphis, Lady Dottie and the Diamonds, iBilly Watson and his International Silver String Submarine Band all of whom had a strong presence. And The Burnsville Band stood out with their 4 year weekly residency at the House of Blues. This is just a drop in a very deep bucket of the bands that gave the Gaslamp District life.
On March 5th at Humphreys Backstage Live we are celebrating, and bringing the magic back to San Diego for one night only The Burnsville Band 20th Reunion. What a wild and wonderful trip it's been. The music, the love, the evolution of The Burnsville Band.
