Your next adventure might be closer than you think. 👀🌎

We talk a lot about cruises, flights, hotels and vacations…

But some of the best days away don’t require any of those things.

Tomorrow is National Public Lands Day, which feels like a pretty good excuse to explore somewhere close to home.

A national park.
A trail you’ve never walked.
A lake.
A historic site.
Or just somewhere the family can put the phones down for a few hours and enjoy being together.

Sometimes we get so focused on planning the big trip that we overlook the experiences sitting right in our own backyard.

So here’s my challenge for this weekend:

Go somewhere you haven’t been before — even if it’s only an hour away.

Then come back and tell me where you went. ✈️🚗

You don’t always need a plane ticket to travel. 🚗🌎

Sometimes the best reset is finding somewhere you’ve never been an hour or two from home.

A new town.
A good restaurant.
A hiking trail.
A beach.
A museum.
Even an overnight stay somewhere close.

I’ve become a bigger believer that we shouldn’t spend the entire year waiting for that one big vacation to make memories.

There is a lot to explore between home and the airport.

✈️ Travel myth I wish would disappear:

“Tuesday is the magic day to book cheap flights.”

Not really.

Airfare can change throughout the week based on demand, availability and other factors. What usually matters more is how early you’re looking and how flexible you can be with your travel dates.

So instead of waiting for some magical Tuesday…

🔎 Start comparing early.
📅 Check nearby dates.
💰 Know what a good price looks like.
✈️ Then be ready to move when you find one.

Sometimes saving money on travel isn’t about knowing a secret.

It’s about knowing what to compare.

✈️ Travel is getting expensive…but here’s something I think more people should do before deciding a trip is “too expensive.”

Don’t check one hotel and quit.

Don’t check one set of dates.

And definitely don’t assume the first price you see is the best price available.

I like to compare the same destination a few different ways — change the dates slightly, compare accommodations, and look at the total trip cost instead of getting hung up on one number.

Sometimes the trip isn’t out of your budget.

You just haven’t found the right version of the trip yet.

Quick travel question… 👀

Have you ever waited to book a trip because you thought:

“I’ll wait. The price will probably come down.”

…and then watched it go UP instead? 😂

One travel habit I’m trying to get better about is comparing early instead of assuming “last minute” automatically means “deal.”

Because sometimes the best travel savings isn’t finding a secret discount.

It’s simply knowing what a good price looks like when you see one.

A little reminder for somebody this morning…

Life moves fast.

Work. Bills. Kids. Responsibilities. Repeat.

Sometimes we get so focused on getting through the week that we forget to actually enjoy the people we’re working so hard for.

Travel is one way our family tries to slow things down—but it doesn’t have to be a big vacation.

Take the drive.
Try the new restaurant.
Spend the afternoon somewhere different.
Put the phone down and take the picture anyway. ❤️

The destination isn’t always the most important part. It’s who you’re sharing it with.

Hope you find a little time this weekend to make a memory with somebody you love.

Friday thought… ✈️

We spend a lot of time waiting for the “big vacation.”

But some of my favorite memories didn’t require a passport, a week off work, or months of planning.

Sometimes you just need to get out of the normal routine and go somewhere.

Drive to a place you’ve never explored.
Try a restaurant in another city.
Take the kids somewhere new.
Stay one night instead of waiting until you can afford five.

You don’t always need a big vacation to make a good memory.

So here’s my question heading into the weekend:

If you could take a spontaneous day trip tomorrow, where would you go? 🚗🌴🏔️

You find a great deal on a 3-night getaway, but you have to leave next weekend.

Are you:

A) Booking it and figuring out the details later 😂
😎 Checking the budget first
C) Asking the spouse before doing ANYTHING 😅
D) Already packing

I’m somewhere between B and C. Married men understand. 😂

Some trips are vacations. Others become part of your family’s story. ❤️✈️

Years later, you probably won’t remember exactly what the hotel cost.

But you might remember the kids seeing the ocean for the first time.
That meal everybody still talks about.
Getting completely lost and laughing about it later. 😂
Or that one sunset you wish you could experience all over again.

That’s one reason I value travel differently as I get older.

The destination matters. But who you experience it with matters even more.

Travel tip that sounds boring… until it saves your vacation. ✈️

Before I book a trip, I’ve learned to take screenshots of the important stuff:

📸 Hotel confirmation
📸 Reservation details
📸 Excursion times
📸 Transportation information
📸 Anything I’ve already paid for

Then I save them to one album on my phone.

Why?

Because Wi-Fi fails. Apps log you out. Emails get buried. And somehow that always seems to happen when you’re standing somewhere trying to prove you actually have a reservation. 😂

Five minutes of preparation can save a lot of frustration later.
