About Kimball & Starting C2C
“The paint and sip company for business professionals” was started to provide (1) company team building events and (2) fundraising events. Please continue reading to learn more about the story behind the creation of Corporate To Canvas!
Every December I create art as gifts for the holidays – pen and ink drawings of pets, renderings of a family member’s new house, portraits for ornament frames... I love doing this not only for the joy it brings the recipient, but also for the uplifting energy and benefits I receive as I design, focus, draw and paint.
As 2017 was wrapping up and I was creating that year’s holiday card, I also had a few large business contracts come to an end. With the New Year just ahead, I was seeking a career shift that would bring me closer to my passion for art. I had spent the previous six years running KW Health Coaching, doing corporate wellness presentations, and guiding people to better health... where did art fit in? How could I still deliver upon my commitment to helping others through my purpose of “empowering solutions”? How could I lift others up and help them feel those benefits I experience when a brush is in my hand?
When 2018 began, I volunteered to lead my Toastmasters club through a vision board workshop (cutting out inspiring magazine images to paste on a poster board). We chatted, snacked, and drank wine as we clipped and pasted our dreams and goals for the New Year. When sharing our boards at the end of the session, I could tell the other members in the group felt that same energy I experience every December - it gave me a clue about where art would fit in. That glow, excitement, and accomplishment that comes from creating art is exhilarating and I wanted to help more people experience that sensation.
Although not fully formed, I had an idea in mind and went in search of opportunities that would align with my artistic interests while serving others. I found a paint and sip company that was hiring an instructor! With my love for painting and inherent skill of replicating artwork, the role seemed like a perfect fit. After shadowing two classes and loading my car to the brim with art supplies, I realized I had made the leap to connect my passion with my purpose.
Corporate To Canvas takes this to the next level by incorporating my personal experience working within corporate America and my professional speaking background. My desire to serve others also merges into my work through fundraising events, where guests have a fun painting while they raise money for a cause that will influence and improve our world. During my classes, I am honored to witness the connections, collaborations, and creativity that comes from the groups I guide. And it’s heartwarming to see an individual finish class bursting with enthusiasm, confidence and feeling proud of the artwork they made. This energy flows back into their personal and professional lives and it’s exciting to see how a little time spent creating art can have such a huge impact on the lives of others!
