This skirt took me a little over a month to complete, between work and school and everything else! I was inspired by something I saw online and decided I could make it better, and I love how it turned out. It’s got a hip bag/utility belt that I plan to make fully detachable. I made all the metal pieces have a brass finish/gold zipper to go with the warm tones. It’s even got a little hidden zipper on the inside of the belt 😊 I used old brown corduroy pants that somehow ended up in my possession lol, and some new fabric too. I could have tried a little harder to find a wrap skirt pattern but the one I chose was apparently originally in german, and translated very poorly. Halfway through I realized it was too small so i had to seam rip, and I ripped a bunch of the patchwork 😩 that sucked, but we persevered and ended up with this beautiful piece! 🙌🏻

Patchwork shorts I made for Dakota’s bday 🥰 this is my third finished project! I def rushed a little to get them done in time but it’s nice to have a deadline. Dakota picked the colors (Blu’s his middle name lol) and I got the fabric in the fashion district of LA. He measures a S/M for the pattern but I made them a large because he likes to wear them on his hip rather than the waist. He also requested snaps instead of buttons. Made sure to match gold with the gold zipper 😏 These are pretty fly if I do say so myself 💁🏼‍♀️❤️🤍💙💀🌹⚡️

So I have been taking a sewing fundamentals class at the community college here and it’s been insanely valuable! Just completed these pajama pants a couple weeks ago! I’ve learned so many different seams and stitches in addition to great advice from my teacher who has worked in all kinds of factories and is now a pattern maker. We will work with knit fabric next; I already have so many ideas!! These pants were made from 100% cotton flannel and it included an elastic waist band. Last minute I made the decision to make the elastic longer so it would sit low on my waist, which it does but i can’t put much in my pockets without them falling down so I’m gonna shorten the elastic next time I get my machine out 🩷🧵💚

as i close this chapter of my life, i’m giving myself a big hug and feeling grateful for the roots i planted so deep in this home. this space is so sacred to me. in these last five years i learned how to take care of myself, and a family. i was able to practice rituals, create art, gather with friends, and rest my bones with a family i love so much. i’m blessed to have been able to watch and help a young girl grow up, and build a home with a partner so talented. i lament leaving what i’ve built behind, but i trust in the path that lies ahead of me ✨
