I am a writer first and foremost. I began writing poetry and monologues about my experiences in life, especially in relation to my surviving both sexual assault and domestic abuse. I began to perform my poetry at spoken-word events sponsored by the Las Vegas Poets. When I moved to San Diego, I continued to share my writings and stumbled on a great website and publisher called A Word With You Press
. I've entered numerous contests with them and was published in an Anthology called "The Coffee Shop Chronicles, Oh the Places I Have Bean." I then expanded to writing stage plays and have had my plays performed on various stages with various actors. My Play, "Infomercials," won first prize in 2012 as part of the 24-Hour Experiment at the Point Loma Actors Theater. I will be one of six playwrights to participate in the 24-Hour Thingy with the San Diego Fringe Festival. I have just finished writing a novel called, "The Shadow Witches." I am also a Performer. I've performed both on live stage and in short films so far. I've performed in all of my Plays that have been put on the Stage. I also have performed the last 3 years in the North Park Vaudeville's Playwright Festival in San Diego - as Carrie in the "Brokendown House" in 2012, in "Traffic Stop" in 2013, and as the Right Brain in "Left/Right". I also performed two roles as part of their 10-Minute Madness Series earlier in 2013 -- as the Mother in "The Day After Christmas" and as the Human in "Bedtime Story." In 2019, I performed in two more short plays. I performed as Sir Edmund Burke in a Play about Thomas Paine to promote the Shakespeare Festival in Balboa Park in San Diego. I performed as Danni in a Short Film called, "The Good Gay Film." Recently, I was an extra in two Films, and performed as Mayor Mustard in "Spotz" as part of the Garden Festival in 2015. I have also directed stage plays and films. I've directed all of my Plays performed on stage, although encourage others to direct as well. I directed 3 different Stage Plays for the North Park Vaudeville's Playwright Festival -- one was "Hey,Pete There Must Be A Mistake" in 2012, "The Phlebotomist"in 2013 about September 11th, and "Straight Out of the Closet" in 2014. I also directed a Short Film in July, 2013, "Chosen Warriors." based on a short piece of my ScreenPlay called, "Shadow Witches." I also coordinated Mental Scope Productions' Live Sessions Event in September 2013. I recently directed my own short, silent film, "The Clamoring Silence," and a short drama film called "Wounded Souls." I have founded my own Community Theater Group, Heartfelt Voices United, and the film division, Heartfelt Productions, that uses performance and film to bring awareness to violence against women and bullying, and to emphasize that there is hope for a healing journey. I write the majority of the Plays produced, but have also put other's writings on the Stage. I direct most of the Plays, but have also invited others to direct. The Theater Group has put on 15 Performances so far. My film division has produced 2 films and numerous video projects. I will now be facilitating a Healing Workshop called "The Six Points of the Healing Heart," both in person and online. I am a survivor of sexual assault and domestic abuse, and use my writing and performing as part of my healing process as well as to bring awareness. Some of the Plays are dark comedy; others are dramatic. I am grateful for all of those who have volunteered graciously to be part of the casts, and who have supported me.
