"This concert showcases the versatility of the entire Marine Corps music program. People have seen Marine Corps fleet bands across the globe, people see ‘The President’s Own’ on tour and throughout the Washington D.C., area, and ‘The Commandant’s Own’ on the DCI circuit and their annual tour on the West Coast. But this is the first time in history that all three organizations have come together at one time, and I don't think there is a better show of unity for the 250th commemoration of the Marine Corps than showcasing the musical talents of all three organizations." - Master Gunnery Sgt. Michael Stanley, Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Corps Fleet Bands.

Whatever It Takes

On Friday, January 10th, 2025, at Page Field aboard Camp Pendleton, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band gave a somber salute and farewell to the "China Marines" of 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division, as the battalion was de-activated and re-designated as the 12th Littoral Combat Team (LCT), 12th Marine Littoral Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.

Several Active Duty and Veteran Marines gathered to reunite over this momentous occasion, as the Battalion holds a storied history, from 1911 to 2025.

The ceremony consisted of: a pre-ceremony serenade by the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band, the formation of troops, the final inspection of troops by the Commanding Officers of the 1st Battalion and 4th Marine Regiment, the final Pass In Review, the casing of the Battalion Colors, and the dismissal of the battalion.

"The redesignation marks the next chapter in the Marine Corps' commitment to designing a force prepared to effectively respond to the challenges, adapt to global security challenges and highlights the battalion's role in its worldwide operations." -
I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF)

The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band supports the 1st Marine Division in times when the 1st Marine Division Band is operationally committed with events of higher priority, or granted well-deserved annual leave. This collaboration between the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and the 1st Marine Division exemplifies the strength and unity of the I Marine Expeditionary Force, showcasing their capabilities beyond the battlefield.
