In addition to its material properties and function beyond being a commodity and an object (and many other things), art is a language and a tool. And it’s been wielded very effectively in overt and covert ways to influence our conscience, consciousness and behavior.
Is the art we consume, immerse ourselves in and revere geared towards the refinement and perfection of the human spirit and condition or something else completely other than that?
Why do we “like” what we think we like, and who told us to like it? Who is actually responsible for our “tastes”?
