Scam alert. I saw that someone was posting in the comments on our page, promoting some Astra apparel for sale. This is either a scam or some bootleg merch. We have not printed any new apparel. If or when we do, we will make an official post about it. Thanks to all of you who let us know about this. I’m really sorry if anyone got ripped off.

Here's a little piece of Astra history. This video is from a show we played way back in 2006 for our friend Neil Martinson's birthday in San Francisco at The Knockout. We were billed as Silver Sunshine at the time but we were already performing material that would appear on our debut album, The Weirding. This was right before Brian Ellis joined Astra as our lead guitarist. Dream Machine was one of the first songs we wrote in our new direction that would become Astra. For some reason, we ended up scrapping this song and we never recorded it, but if you listen, the chorus may sound familiar. I nicked the chord progression and vocal melody and used it for the chorus to Barefoot in the Head on our 2nd album, The Black Chord. Another fun fact, when we would play this song live at gigs, we would end it with the riff from the 1969 song The Reason by Andromeda as a sort of coda. You can hear that at the end of the video. This was such a fun song to play live.

I received Arik Roper ‘s new art book, Vision of the Hawk, last week and I’m completely blown away. I’m so honored to have been able to work with Arik on our 2 Astra album covers. In my mind, he perfectly visualized our music and captured the feel of our albums like no one else could. Thank you for your vision and immense talent, Arik. This book is serious 🔥🔥🔥
