I enjoyed an incredible week attending the 2026 NATS Science-Informed Pedagogy Institute in Savannah, Georgia from June 7-14.

To all my professional friends who sing and/or teach singers in any capacity, I cannot emphasize enough how important and powerful this week was in terms of expanding my previous understanding of the voice and how we teach. Go! Invest in yourself and your singers.

We enjoyed daily lectures from nationally recognized experts and had opportunities to see the direct application of this knowledge as we worked with student volunteers as well as attendees.

And the cherry on top of this bountiful endeavor was meeting a community of brilliant, like-minded people who offered vulnerability, kindness, humor, support, and curiosity. I am so grateful for everyone I met and learned from this week. Here’s to the voice nerds who love singing, science, and creating beauty in a world that is sorely in need.

I left with new clarity and inspiration to improve and empower both my students and myself.

Some students leave your studio with stronger high notes.

Some leave with confidence to speak in class.
To audition.
To make friends.
To take up space.
To say yes...or no.

Some leave knowing how to handle nerves.
How to practice something difficult.
How to keep going after mistakes.
How to breathe through hard moments.

Some leave with memories of singing with you after a difficult school day.
Some leave remembering that your studio was the one place they felt safe to be fully themselves.

Voice lessons were never just about singing.

And even if a student only stays for one season, they carry pieces of your teaching with them for the rest of their lives. 💗💗💗

Congratulations to Winston Churchill High School Choirs on an amazing Pop Show! I loved it!!! Happy to enjoy the concert with the delightful Jennifer Whatley as we both beamed with pride watching the students we get to teach every week. ❤️🖤🎶🎉 Wow!!🤩

Join us for “Opera Drama.” An entertaining, delightful evening of opera scenes this Friday and Saturday at Trinity University featuring scenes from Candide, Cendrillon, The Merry Widow, Così fan tutte, Madame Butterfly, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Werther, and Lucia di Lammermoor.
