San Japan is a yearly event taking place on Labor Day weekend in downtown San Antonio at the Henry B. We take place on Labor Day Weekend. San Japan, the largest fan-run anime + gaming convention in San Antonio and South Texas, is a massive 3-day event that brings together over 28,000 attendees. We offer a wide range of Japanese anime, culture, costume, gaming events, and other fan-run events, all

in the vibrant downtown San Antonio, right in the center of the majestic Riverwalk. This yearly event will occur at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center along with the San Antonio Grand Hyatt Hotel on Labor Day Weekend. San Japan welcomes voice-actor and motion-capture artist Dan Southworth to San Japan 17.

Dan Southworth is an accomplished filmmaker with decades of experience in feature film, television, motion capture, voice-over, and commercial production.

Power Ranger fans know him as Eric Myers, the Quantum Ranger from Power Rangers-Time Force. Mortal Kombat fans enjoyed his portrayal of Kenshi in the popular series Mortal Kombat Legacy 2. Dan's popularity among anime fans follows his voice and motion capture role as Vergil in the best-selling video game Devil May Cry 3. Devil May Cry 3.5 was later released so fans could experience the game as Dan's character. Devil May Cry 5, which chronicles more of Vergil’s story, won best action video game at the 2019 Video Game Awards.

Video gamers have continued to enjoy his work in Killzone -Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, Resident Evil, Dark Souls 2, and Battlefront 2, to name a few of the many motion capture projects he has choreographed, action coordinated, and performed in.

Michael Sorich has been an entertainer his entire life. He performed w/ Robin Williams as a member of the Comedy Store Players, finished Second to Whoopi Goldberg in a National Stand Up Competition and has voiced over 1000 Cartoons while also narrating 20 shows for the Travel Channel. He can be heard in the English dub of: Jujutsu Kaisen (he directed the dub of Season 1) 3 characters in Naruto, Bleach (he also directed the dub of Bleach’s first 25 episodes) To Your Eternity, Mob Psycho 100, Hunter X Hunter, Lupin the 3rd, Kill LA Kill, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Cowboy Bebop, Yokai Watch, Power Rangers, Digimon & Robotech.

In movies his voice graced Wild Robot, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Kill Bill-Vol. #1, Day of the Dead, Resident Evil: Degeneration, Curious George, Papa Smurf in “The Smurfs and the Magic Flute”, Monster High: Electrified, Angry Birds 1 & 2, Kung Fu Panda 3 & 4, Cars 3, SpongeBob: “Sponge on the Run”, the Detective Conan Movies, Children of the Sea, the Son of Bigfoot, Street Fighter 2, Seabiscuit and died gloriously in Gladiator, Gods and Generals and voiced evil monsters in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

Some of his video game credits include World of Warcraft, God of War, Heroes of the Storm, Final Fantasy Seven Expansion Pack, Bravely Default, Resident Evil, Twisted Metal:Black, Grim Fandango, The Curse of Monkey Island and X Wing Fighter.

He Voice-directed The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Digimon, Jujutsu Kaisen, Bleach, Komi Can’t Communicate, Bo-bo-bo Bo-bo-Bo-bo, Masked Rider, Big Bad Beetleborgs, Jujutsu Kaisen, To Your Eternity, Saint Seiya, Monster Girl Doctor, Shin Chan, Flint the Time Detective, Idaten Jump, Mon Colle Knights, Battle B-Daman, Samurai X and Eagle Riders & numerous Feature films.

On Camera he’s guest-starred on Seinfeld, Married with Children, twice on the Tonight Show, Seven Days and the Elian Gonzalez Story as Fidel Castro. He was Woody on VR Troopers and starred on his own nationally syndicated educational show as Dr. Pi on the Mad Scientist Toon Club. Shawn Gann is a proud Filipino-American ADR Voice & Casting Director, Voiceover Artist, and Educator who has voiced roles in My Hero Academia, Dragon Ball Super, Attack on Titan, One Piece, Fruits Basket, Ranking of Kings, Radiant, Ensemble Stars, and many others. His directing credits include Requiem of the Rose King, Aoashi, Shadows House, Buddy Daddies, Radiant, The Legendary Hero is Dead, Horimiya, Fruits Basket, Laid Back Camp, The Apothecary Diaries, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, You Are Ms. Servant, and Kaiju No. 8.

He has also been featured in several video games; most notably, for GearBox Software's Borderlands 3 & Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact, and Bandai Namco’s Tales of Luminaria. He is the proud father of Sana, our main mascot. When Diego is not helping her with her cosplays, he enjoys fresh espresso and cooking for his friends, family, and lovers.

San Japan welcomes voice-over guest Patricia Summersett to San Japan 17.

Patricia Summersett became the voice of Princess Zelda in Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, making her the first official voice of the eponymous princess in the game's thirty-five-year franchise. She reprised the role of Princess Zelda for the highly-celebrated sequel The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — as well as for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. For Ubisoft, Patricia is the voice and full performance-capture actor for Ash in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, reprising the role in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Extraction. She was also the voice and performance capture actor for two assassins in the Assassin’s Creed franchise: Hope Jensen in AC: Rogue and Galina Voronina in AC: Syndicate — as well as for Paula Madera in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

Brian Beacock is an on-camera and voice actor, writer, producer, and musician whose diverse career includes voice-overs for more than 100 cartoon series and video games.
