A little later than planned, but Volume 7 is finally here. Life got extremely busy, so thank you for being patient with us while we got this issue together.

This month, SpecDRAGular takes on a conversation that comes up constantly in the drag world but rarely gets fully unpacked: The Professionalism of Drag.

What does it actually mean to be professional in drag? Who decides what those standards are? Have we grown as a community, or are there still areas where we are falling short?

For Volume 7, we sit down with San Antonio drag icon Kristi Waters for an exclusive interview, getting to know more about her career, her journey in drag, and her perspective on professionalism both onstage and behind the scenes.

We’re also bringing back A Talk with Texas Drag Artists, where we asked respected professionals in the scene to share their own thoughts on professionalism, how the drag world has changed over the years, and where they believe we can still do better.

In this edition of the SpecDRAGular Zine, we are celebrating Pride through freedom, power, and love. The freedom to live openly and authentically, the power found within our voices and community, and the love that continues to bring us together.

Throughout this issue, we explore what Pride means beyond the parties, parades, and rainbows. We reflect on identity, resilience, self-expression, and the courage it takes to stand proudly in who we are. We also reached out to members of our community to hear about their personal experiences with Pride and the ways they use their voices, platforms, and artistry to celebrate and uplift others.

This edition is a celebration of how far we have come, a reminder of the work that still remains, and a love letter to the people who make our community so powerful. Pride is our freedom, our power, and our love.
