This week we will be highlighting one of our amazing artist ✨

A San Antonio based painter and illustrator. Kwanzaa Edwards has been honing her skills in figurative painting since 2014. Originally an abstract painter, Kwanzaa blended her abstract style with her experience in figurative illustration bringing about a unique marriage of her skills.
•
Since earning her BFA in Painting from Lamar University in 2014, The meaning behind Kwanzaa’s work evolved as she entered the real working world. Since then, mental health, self acceptance and black female empowerment have been consistent topics in her work. Her characters often present an unapologetic existence in their respective universes. Fantasy plays a key role as her figures often display features that aren’t natural in this world such as colorful galaxy afros, unnatural eye colors and many other characteristics. The fantasy aspects of her work draw in the viewer letting them see not what they are outside but what magical and powerful being resides within.

This year, Legacy Park will be joining Archive & Museum in preserving, collecting, and sharing the history of Black San Antonio. Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery & Studio will be joining to celebrate a rich cultural legacy of music and visual art in San Antonio! This event is on June 19th from 6-11 PM and is free for all ages.
I had the pleasure of making a sweet and savory charcuterie board, sweet potato and peach cobbler cheesecake bites, and maple brown sugar glazed mini chicken and waffle cones for Michele Thomas Juneteenth mixer at Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery & Studio. It was great to meet you in person Dana's Designs and Events, LLC ❤️

WHAT A GREAT EVENT! Thanks to Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery & Studio for allowing us to grace the space! Thanks to the amazing panelists, guests, and vendors! It’s conversations like these that can progress our food system for all! We have much work to do here in SA, but we have to take the steps necessary to cultivate an equitable, healthy, sustainable, and resilient food system!

Today we will be talking to the owner of Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery & Studio, Maria Williams! Maria owns THE ONLY black art gallery in San Antonio! We had an amazing time attending and volunteering at the Back to Business Networking event hosted by the African American Chamber of Commerce of San Antonio on Saturday at the BREATHTAKING Eye of the Beholder Art Gallery & Studio. Thank you for providing our girls an opportunity to by NETWORKING with local black professionals and businesses owners in San Antonio! The event was both EMPOWERING and INSPIRING for myself and our young ladies!! We can’t wait for the next one!
