Everybody knows someone who says they make the best chili around.

Maybe that someone is you.

You’ve heard the compliments. You’ve been asked for the recipe. You may have even told a few people that nobody makes a pot quite like yours.

On Saturday, October 10, there’s one way to find out.

Enter the Chili Cook-Off at the 2026 Sallisaw Main Street Fall Festival and put your recipe to the test against some of the best chili makers in the area.

This isn’t the time for the “secret family recipe” to stay secret at home. Bring the pot. Bring your best batch. Bring the confidence.

And if your friends have been bragging about your chili for years, send them this post. They’ve already talked you up. Now you might as well prove them right.

The Chili Cook-Off will be one of the featured competitions at this year’s Fall Festival, with downtown Sallisaw full of activity throughout the day. Come enjoy the 50th Annual Car Show, shop with festival vendors, spend time downtown, and see who earns bragging rights in the Chili Cook-Off.

Setup is at 9:00 a.m., and chili must be ready for the judges and the public at 11:00 a.m.

The 50th Annual Car Show rolls into downtown Sallisaw on Saturday, October 10, as part of the 2026 Sallisaw Main Street Fall Festival.

We’re calling on classic car owners, custom builders, truck owners, collectors, and car clubs from across the region to bring out their best and be part of this year’s show.

Whether your pride and joy has been carefully preserved to its original glory, modified from bumper to bumper, or falls into a class all its own, there’s a place for it in Sallisaw.

This October, something special is rolling into Downtown Sallisaw.

The 2026 Fall Car Show marks its 50th Anniversary as part of the Sallisaw Main Street Fall Festival- five decades of polished chrome, careful restoration, custom craftsmanship, and the people who keep automotive passion alive.

For car owners and enthusiasts across the region, this is more than another date on the calendar.

It’s a chance to be part of a tradition that has brought together great vehicles and great people for half a century.

Sallisaw has always been a place where roads come together. And on Saturday, October 10, we want those roads to carry classics, customs, trucks, special-interest vehicles, and proud owners from every direction into the heart of our downtown.

Festival guests will be purchasing $10 tester kits with bowls, spoons, napkins, voting tickets, and a drink so they can taste the competition and help choose their favorites. That means your chili gets its moment in front of a hungry downtown crowd! 🌶️🥄

🎉Make Your Cook-Off Spot Your Own
Setup begins at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of Choctaw and Oak Streets, and family-friendly decorations are encouraged. Bring your team, decorate your space, serve up your signature chili, and enjoy the friendly competition and festival atmosphere.

Chili must be ready to serve at 11:00 a.m., and the awards will be presented at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Side dishes are encouraged, too; if you’ve got the perfect companion to your championship-worthy chili, bring it along!

🌾 Your Voice Can Help Shape the Future of Rural Oklahoma!

What do you believe is the biggest challenge facing rural Oklahoma today?

Juliana Cueva, an Oklahoma State University Rural Renewal Scholar, is conducting important research to better understand the experiences, needs, and priorities of people living in rural communities like ours across our state.

Oklahomans age 18 and older are invited to participate in a brief, anonymous survey. It takes approximately 10–15 minutes, and the feedback collected may help guide future programs and initiatives designed to strengthen rural Oklahoma.

🎁 As a thank-you, participants may enter a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card. One winner will be selected from each geographic zone in August. Contact information submitted for the drawing will be kept completely separate from survey responses.
