There is a high chance of severe weather today across the state, focusing mostly around Wichita, Hutchinson, Salina, Manhattan, and areas around the Kansas/Nebraska border. The highest likelihood of severe weather lies within the orange and red circles on the map.

⚠️Hazards include hail up to 3”, damaging winds up to 80mph, and a few tornadoes. ⚠️

As of now, storms look to fire along I-70, starting around 2-3pm. All storms that form today have the potential to be severe, so have an action plan in place when warnings are issued. Stay safe and keep your eyes on the sky!

4/23/26: A tornado watch has been issued for central and eastern Kansas until 9pm tonight! Strong tornadoes, high winds, and large hail are all possible from storms that develop in the area. Have an action plan in place in the event of severe weather, and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Stay safe and keep your eyes on the sky!

A Tornado Watch is in effect for south central and eastern Kansas today until 9pm. Additionally, there is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for the Wichita metro. Storms in this environment today are capable of very large hail and damaging winds in excess of 80mph. Please have an action plan in place in the event of severe weather. Stay safe and keep your eyes on the sky.

A mesoscale discussion has been posted for the area in the red circle. It is almost certain that a tornado watch will be issued for those areas in the next hour or two. This looks to include the Wichita metro. Please have an action plan in place in the event of severe weather. Keep your eyes on the sky and be safe!

4/1/26: Severe weather is expected today across most of South-Central and Eastern Kansas. This loop shows precipitation from 7am-midnight today. An enhanced risk is in place that includes Wichita. Anywhere in the shaded area has the potential for severe weather today, including damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes. Though the main threat of tornadoes will be south in Oklahoma, be sure to have a plan in place in the event severe weather occurs. I will post more updates as the day goes on. Stay safe and keep your eyes on the sky!

A High Wind Watch is in effect for most of Kansas through Sunday night. Sunday is forecast to feature consistent 35-45mph winds with gusts up to 60mph, coming from the Northwest. Winds are expected to kick in sometime Sunday morning, so take caution if traveling.

High Wind Warning will go into effect for most of Kansas by 11am today! Wind gusts up to 55mph are possible today! Be safe if you’re traveling! This is in addition to a Red Flag Warning.
