I started traveling by myself at 15! Went overseas to visit my Uncle in Germany but had my own space and spent a lot of time on my own.
Later on in life I traveled solo often and now in married life …I still DO!
It really allows me to recenter and to experience life on my terms! Listen to my intuition and follow my joy.
This time my solo trip brought me to Santa Fe and on a random google map search to AHMYO Wine & Beer Garden - Santa Fe . Where I got to meet Debbie and Freddie the wonderful couple who run the place.
A magical garden tucked behind the art galleries of canyon road. If you’re in Santa Fe you must check them out! They often have live music…of course I showed up on a Monday night when things were slow but I got to share a couple songs with Freddie.
This was totally unrehearsed and honestly, years ago I wouldn’t have posted this because it wasn’t polished enough or “good” enough …BUT singing is NOT about perfection and music makes strangers into friends.
This was my first night in Santa Fe and it really did feel like such a gift to get to sing and enjoy the company of new people in a new city.
The rest of my trip was pretty low key, I bought myself flowers, made some art and took myself out to nice meals. I got to observe and experience things in a way you just can’t when traveling with another person.
Don’t get me wrong, I love traveling with Eriks or the right friends but I find that being on my own is something I have to prioritize and something I NEED to feel like myself.
Self care can come in many forms! As an artist and a singer self care is essential to stay in tune with myself, my instrument, my body and my spirit. Time alone is one of my nonnegotiables…what are yours? Would love to hear about how you take care of yourself?
