Still time to sign up for my Dimensional Forming With Metal
workshop the week of January 17th through the 21st has changed location and will now be held in the Deland Florida studio of the Florida Society of Goldsmiths North East Chapter.
If you've ever wanted to learn how to make your work more "3D", organic, domed etc., this is the workshop for you. We'll learn how to form metal using both sync-clast and anti-clast methods, and we'll make spiculums! Those are the hollow tube forms you see in many of my pendants and bracelets. I've added some pics of my work as examples. This is an advanced class, but if you are a beginner, the only requirement is that you are comfortable with a jewelers torch and hammers. PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIRED.
Message me for a full class description and information on how to sign up
A survey: what, specifically, is patina? Is it limited to Liver of Sulfur or commercial blackeners?
So very sad to learn of Tom Benham's passing. What a valuable member he was. Love and peace to Kay and family.
Just wondering if the members directory is available yet?
Just starting out on my dream to become a professional jeweler. Any places near Tallahassee where I can take metalsmithing classes? Currently taking an introduction to jewelry class in school now, so learning the basics. Was hoping someone can point me to more classes in my area? Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful day.

Hello everyone. My Dad introduced me to you all many years ago and I met some of you twice at Wildacres 🙂. Now both he and I have moved on from our jewelry-making days. I will soon be posting a lovely jewelers/crafters workbench he made himself - of rare Birdseye Pine onto Craigslist. I also have a rolling mill I need to part with. If anyone is interested please message me.
Hi there, I‘m hoping that you could spread the word about my husband‘s gofundme page.
On May 3rd Oliver was altering a wooden mandrel to work with a unique cuff of his. Not all tools that one can buy do exactly what you need them to do, so changing existing tools or making some from scratch is a common practice for jewelers. Making changes to this mandrel changed his life. He decided to use a circular saw to make the changes that he needed and severely injured his right hand in that process.
