This one happened right after sunrise. The gorilla was already crossing the open plain when we noticed the lion pride watching from the shade. Nobody expected them to move in at the same time.

We were driving slowly when the buffalo herd suddenly stopped everything. The gorilla was already near the trail, and the tension built up fast when the leader moved closer than expected.

We were just about to leave when a pride of lions started walking straight down the safari road, and somehow the gorilla was already standing near the edge like it had been there the whole time. Every jeep just froze. Nobody expected them to come this close together.

We were driving slowly through a narrow tree line when a massive bull elephant came out from the shade and stopped right in front of the road. The gorilla was already standing off to the side near the bushes and just watched like it wasn’t surprised at all. Nobody in any jeep even tried to move.

We almost drove past this and then noticed the lioness hiding in the grass. The gorilla spotted her too and neither one seemed willing to look away. One of the most tense things I've ever seen on safari.

At first I thought the crocodile was just sitting there. Then the gorilla walked closer to the water and suddenly everyone in the nearby jeeps started paying attention. This felt way more tense in person.

We followed the river road and had to stop because something huge was already in the water. A hippo was right there near the bank and the gorilla was standing just above it on the muddy edge like they both refused to move first.

We didn’t even notice at first, but a pack of wild dogs was already moving through the grass on the other side of the clearing. The gorilla was still near the trees just watching everything like it was normal.

We didn’t even notice the crocodile at first. It was barely moving at the edge of the water, and the gorilla just stood there watching it like it already knew it was there. Nobody in our jeep said a word for a while.

Everyone thought the buffalo would just walk past. Then it stopped and started staring at the gorilla. We sat there for almost half a minute wondering if either one was going to back down.
