Union High School Marching Bears

Yep. We did that. Through the rain and the wind and the cold. ‘Til the end. It was well  after midnight before we got back to the school. Then we spent another hour and a half unloading and reloading our band trailers for our McChesney Band Festival that we’re hosting tomorrow at Bullitt Park. Students, staff, and volunteers will start working well before seven on Saturday morning to get this festival up and going.

If you get a chance, thank a Union Band member
or Union Band Booster the next time you see them. These folks are tireless and they love the Union Band program. And so do I!

Come out to the McChesney Band Festival tomorrow at 1:00 pm at Bullitt Park and see just what a big deal this event is for our school and our town. You can see 17 amazing regional marching bands and you can also see just how hard we work on our “days off” 🎼💙🧡🥁🥁🎶

Friday Gameday reminder:

Students may stay after school at UHS. Pizza/drinks will be provided courtesy of the First Apostolic Church of Appalachia in the UHS Cafeteria.

Departure time has changed due to the later (7:30 pm) kick-off. We will board buses at 5:15 and depart at 5:30 pm so please be on time.

Dress is orange band shirt. Please dress warmly and perhaps bring an umbrella or rain jacket in case.

Depending on the pace of the game, we hope to return to UHS by 11:15 pm.

For our October 30th home football game, the Band Boosters would like to make treat bags for our Marchjng Bears. If you can donate a bag of candy, please drop it by the band room or you can bring it to the park the day of the McChesney festival. Thanks for all your help!!!

Parents/Guardians,
This year at the McChesney Festival, we will be opening the Little League stand as a hospitality room for UHS Band Members only!!! They will be able to go in and out during the day to grab a piece of pizza or some nachos, but we need all the baked and store-bought goodies we can get. If you are able to donate cookies, brownies, etc…anything that doesn’t require utensils to eat, please drop it off Saturday morning at the front gate.

Calling all volunteers, if you’d like to work to make some $$, for your child’s spring band trip, here’s your chance!!! We need concession stand help all day starting at 10am until 6pm Saturday, October 17th at the 45th Annual Mcchesney Band Festival. If you are willing and able, just comment below!!!
