Thank you to everyone who saw A REAL PIECE OF WORK this summer at Minnesota Fringe 🥰 We were so honored to share our play among so many amazing works by incredibly talented artists - and to win two festival awards to boot! A special thank you to our tech team, Emmett and Owen, as well as the box office staff, the front of house volunteers, and the Fringe staff for creating such a fun and rewarding festival. Lastly, Eric B. Jacobson (he/him) is the writer and producer of A Real Piece of Work and he plays Kyle in our upcoming production during Minnesota Fringe.

Describe your role in three words.
Eric: Creative, organized, multifaceted.

What do you love most about community theater?
Eric: People coming together to have fun, be creative, and connect with others. Done right, there’s so much joy and love and passion all mixed together.

Why should audiences come see A Real Piece of Work?
Eric: It’s a fun, funny, and endearing look at community theater, with a deeper message for this moment in our society. You’ll have a good time, have a good laugh, and hopefully have a good think too!

What do you love most about community theater?
Kevin: I love that community theater affords people from all walks of life the chance to take part in live theatre, either as a participant or as an audience member.

Kevin: Fringe audiences should come see A Real Piece of Work because it’s funny, it’s full of quirky interesting characters, and it celebrates theatre...just like Fringe!

MEET THE CAST & CREW OF A REAL PIECE OF WORK!

Annie O’Neill (they/them) plays Mina and Chini Murali (she/her) is the stage manager for our upcoming production during Minnesota Fringe.

Describe your role in three words.
Annie: Free-spirit, positive, loyal.
Chini: Blocking, lines, props.

What do you love most about community theater?
Annie: I love getting to meet so many different types of people and the collaboration of storytelling.
Chini: Meeting people who are doing theater just for the love of it.

Why should audiences come see A Real Piece of Work?
Annie: It’s very relatable for anyone that has experienced being a part of community theatre, and for those who haven’t, will get an insight to what it looks like in the rehearsal space. Be prepared to have a great time and laugh at our silliness!
Chini: it’s got real relatable characters, it’s funny, and it’s full of heart.

MEET THE CAST & CREW OF A REAL PIECE OF WORK!

William (Bill) H. Sikorski (he/him) plays Henry and Jeremy Williams (he/him) plays Phil in our upcoming production during Minnesota Fringe.

Describe your character in three words.
Bill: Grounded, generous, content.
Jeremy: Harried, distracted, genuine.

What do you love most about community theater?
Bill: Community theater is one of the last places where people from completely different backgrounds willingly spend dozens of evenings together trying to create something bigger than themselves. We laugh together, solve problems together, occasionally panic together, and by opening night we’re cheering for each other. In today’s world, that feels pretty special.
Jeremy: I love the temporary found family that comes with doing a show. I love coming together as strangers, making art as a group, and ending up as friends.

Why should audiences come see A Real Piece of Work?
Bill: You get to watch a cast of talented actors pretending to be spectacularly untalented actors. That’s much harder than it sounds. Plus, it’s proof that sometimes the most beautiful thing isn’t perfection—it’s a bunch of ordinary people creating something together.
Jeremy: Whether or not you’ve been in community theatre before, you will find a character you can relate to in A Real Piece of Work.
