Wonderful to have TC Theatre Bloggers attend the “Survivors of the Fire” shows we performed with Bucket Brigade this weekend at the Hinckley Fire Museum! Thanks to the audiences and friends who made the drive up to experience this heartbreaking, harrowing yet hopeful show.

The Twin Cities Theater Bloggers love a road trip! Lettered in Theatre, Minnesota Theater Love, Life in R***e, and Cherry and Spoon spent the day at the Hinckley Fire Museum and saw Bucket Brigade’s beautiful original musical SURVIVORS OF THE FIRE, a tribute to the survivors and the heroes who lost their lives 131 years ago tomorrow (Sept 1) in this horrific firestorm. We got to tour the museum for free, and also visited the mass grave of over 200 of the 418 souls lost that day (not counting the hundreds of indigenous people who also perished, or those that died years later due to injuries or illnesses acquired in the fire). It was a sobering yet fun day of remembering this event together.
Moral of the story: theater is everywhere so go see a show and support artists wherever you are! They keep our history alive and inspire us towards a better future.

Deeply felt pain as we rehearsed last night…

Survivors of the Fire dress rehearsal in which:

• We light candles in remembrance of the children that were lost in the Great Hinckley Fire. And as we speak their names and sing songs of mourning, we can’t help but think of the children who lost their lives yesterday, and the staggering number who have lost their lives to gun violence in this country.

We remember, we grieve, and we hope for, and work toward, a better future for us and for the children.

Agreed. Theatre reflecting the beauty and sadness of life. Go take part in it!
