KateLyn Syphus, an accomplished violinist, pianist, and private music teacher, has been involved with music since the age of 7. Her earliest years were spent learning the piano. When she turned 12 years old, she picked up the violin. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Dixie State University in 2014, where she studied violin performance under Dr. Paul Abegg. She is currently a Master’s Degree Candidate for a Master’s of Art in Arts Administration degree from Southern Utah University, where she is on track to graduate in the fall of 2019. During her undergraduate studies KateLyn participated in many ensembles including the Dixie State Symphony Orchestra (Concertmaster), the Southwest Symphony (Associate Concertmaster), the Dixie State Chamber Orchestra (Concertmaster), the Tuacahn Amphitheater Pit Orchestra, and the Harborwood String Quartet. She also participated in various pit orchestras, chamber ensembles and solo recitals at DSU. KateLyn has performed with many world class musicians including Yo-Yo Ma, Wayne Newton, Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Woman, Jenny Oaks Baker, Kurt Bestor, William Joseph, Sutton Foster, and Matthew Morrison. She has also done recordings with several local artists, and performs regularly with her husband Shaun, a pianist. Residing in Northern Utah with her husband and two sons, she currently performs regularly with the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, freelances, and teaches.

Come see our fabulous guest artists Brandon and McKenzie Lee live at our Spring Concert - From the Streets to the Stars: Broadway Favorites on Friday March 6, 2026 at 7:30 pm at Utah Tech University Eccles Concert Hall!

Brandon and McKenzie Lee have been performing together for almost 13 years now. With Brandon Lee as an award-winning concert pianist and McKenzie as a seasoned vocalist and performer, they bring to the stage a variety of heart-felt and inspiring music of all styles. Brandon is a graduate of Utah State University with a masters in Piano performance. He has soloed with multiple orchestras including the Gold Country Chamber Orchestra, San Juan Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Symphony Orchestra and three times with the Utah Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with other artists such as Audra McDonald and the band Kansas. He has won first place in over forty state, regional and national piano competitions. Brandon is the piano department head at Utah Arts Academy and has a thriving piano studio in St. George, Utah. McKenzie is a graduate from Southern Utah University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. She loves homeschooling her kids and teaching a musical performing group called “Illuminate” with over 70 participants ages 2-18yrs old. She has starred in multiple roles including; the Narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", Zaneeta in "The Music Man", Wendy in "Peter Pan", Annie in "Annie" and performed professionally in "Twist the Night Away" for three years with the Bumbleberry theater where they toured in various states including Nashville, Tennessee. She has also performed on the North and South islands of New Zealand with a performing group called "The Polkadots." She enjoyed participating in comedy theater in featured roles with The Rattlin' D Playhouse. Brandon and McKenzie have performed in numerous private home concerts and public events including performing as guest artists with the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop and the Southern Utah Heritage Choir. The two of them inspire their audiences with their personal testimonies and experiences intertwined with classic songs all ages love. Together they released their first album, “Lee Family Music: Concert Favorites” which is available on iTunes and Apple music. They have been happily married for eleven years and love being parents to their three kids more than anything!!

The evening will feature guest artists McKenzie Lee, soprano, Brandon Lee, piano, and KateLyn Syphus, violin, adding sparkle and artistry to this Broadway-inspired program. Join us on March 6, 2026 for an evening of Broadway brilliance.
