Classes with Ignite Embodied Movement will be on hiatus while I take some time to practice what I preach. I am dealing with some heavy things in my personal life, and need to take this time to take care of myself before I can show up and hold space for you lovely souls on the dance floor. It’s Scorpio szn, babes. Arguably one of the best seasons of the year 😈

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, it’s time to get deep and go beneath the surface. 💀

In Smolder, we will be working on a Halloween themed choreo to Voodoo by PLAZA. Come get vampiric with me 🩸

In Illuminate, we’ll focus on songs and prompts that reflect themes of the Scorpio archetype, like death and rebirth, alchemy, and transformation. What will your movement help you uncover? ♏️

One of the reasons I love slow movement is that our bodies (and minds) NEED to slow down.

The average person today is over extending themselves in a way our bodies and minds were never meant to handle. We then often shame ourselves for not being able to constantly do more, be more, achieve more. As someone who has been praised time and again for their perseverance, it is that same perseverance that has harmed me time and again when I refused to listen to my body’s need to DO LESS.

What if you could just let yourself BE for a bit? Take an hour to stop checking things off your never ending list to slooooooow tf down. Taking a dance class can be a respite for your body and mind. 💥 Hello dancers! I just wanted to take a chance to let you know a little bit more about the classes I will be offering starting in October. All of our classes are suitable for beginners and experienced dancers alike!

💥 SMOLDER, our original sensual floor flow class, will be back on Friday evenings in October. This is 60 minute choreography based class. We will work on new choreography every 3-4 weeks. We will focus on slinky movements, slowing down, and feeling the flow in our bodies. Since we are on the floor, knee pads are highly recommended!

💥 SPARK is a new floor flow class where we will learn a short sensual sequence and can really break down the fundamentals of the movements. We will then dance this sequence to different songs and genres, playing with various prompts to really explore the movement and make it our own. This is where you can start to find your own unique flow and style. Again, since we will primarily be on the floor, knee pads are strongly encouraged! This class will be held on Tuesday evenings in October.

💥 ILLUMINATE is a new free form dance class, designed for adults who just want to move their bodies to the rhythm of music. This is a space to explore self-expression through dance, however that looks for you! No sequence or choreography will be taught in this class, but prompts will be given for us to dive deep and explore our own personal movement and body wisdom. We won’t spend all of our time on the floor (unless you feel called to do so), but do consider bringing kneepads just in case. This class will be held on Tuesday and Friday evenings in October.

💥 The only wrong way to dance to do something that is unsafe for your body. Other than that, dance is simply rhythmically moving to music.

💥 You do not have to have a certain level of ability, or be a certain size. You don’t have to be a professional, or have a certain number of lessons before you can dance. You don’t have to be super strong or super flexible. You don’t have to point your toes. You can dance across a whole room, or you can dance in a chair.

💥 Every body can benefit from dance, and there are so many wonderful styles out there to explore. If you’re interested in trying a sensual floor based dance class, come join me this Friday at 12:30pm at St. Albans Yoga & Fitness Co-Op!
