Pardon the double post! I figure it can’t hurt to see if this version works better lol. Also added the poll for what I’ll try to do next!
Side note, I shouldn’t care so much whether people like my posts! But dang, it’s tough mental battle for sure, constantly fighting to validate your own identity as a “good enough” artist. Sending good vibes to everyone else feeling the struggle! And also, thank you to everyone who’s supported me! I really means a lot!

💣💥Reze
Reworked my Chainsaw Man piece for the new film!

It was an interesting process revisiting this piece. With fresh eyes, I feel like I had a better sense of what was working and what wasn’t. I pulled back on the shading and lighting in this version and so I think it leans more into the appeal of my linework. Btw, It’s a common occurrence for me to do a whole shading pass on a piece only to realize (tragically) that it somehow actually lost some of the charm — deciding to remove some of that work always feels like taking a step backwards but I nowadays, I’m more used to the fact that such mistakes are part of the process and can let go rather than dig in. But it’s tricky! I still like the previous version for its bolder brat green but also, having the heart in the background is something I always wanted but didn’t feel right in that other version. Let me know which one you prefer!

🛩️📘✨Overflow Book Cover
Just got my advance copy of my book and wow! The cover fx turned out better than I had hoped!
These will be arriving to backers in late November but I’ll have some copies with me at ! Come see me at booth 825 if you want a signed copy!
To be honest, I wasn’t sure how I would feel after making this book. It’s been my lifelong dream to make one — my main heroes growing up were the artists who had books in the San Francisco Kinokuniya and ever since, I’ve placed such books on a pedestal far away from myself. Even my work on Sea of Stars felt like it was really the game world that people enjoyed, not truly my own creation. But this time, this book is extremely personal and I’ve poured my heart and soul into it. No joke, I feel like I had to face some of my inner demons head on for the first time while really digging into what makes me the artist that I am today. I’m so excited for you all to read it and hope that it really connects with those of you who need it. And to the rest, I really hope you like the pictures haha.

🔺🔺🔺Stairs of the Kingdom
My love letter to Zelda and an homage to MC Escher’s Relativity, the one where all the stairs don’t make sense lol.
I’ll be debuting this piece at NYCC Booth 1076 — we’ll be way in the back corner of Exhibitor’s upstairs, so please come find us! We’ll also have some fun promo and freebie swag, including a Pokemon Calendar and postcards!
I’ll just say that this piece is one that has shattered my record for how long illustrations typically take me, the average being about 5 days and this taking close to 3x that. The only unfortunate thing is that the piece is so big that I can’t really show it all very well on instagram (y’all are missing at least 2 links that get cropped out lol). Anyway, hope you enjoy!
