Most the animals were inactive because of the heat. The glare from the glass separators made taking pictures not worth it.
The giraffe encounter made it all worth it.

I worked "Race for the Arts" this morning and decided to come to the zoo. Most the animals are sleeping or inactive in the mid-day sun and heat.

Dinosaurs aren't! 😎 It's difficult to get pictures of the animals behind the glare of the glass.

Tonight, Auburn–Grass Valley Elks Lodge #538 is heading out to Railhead Park to join the fun at the Auburn Youth Soccer Club’s Soccerfest 2026!

So what is Soccerfest? It’s the big community kickoff to Auburn Youth Soccer’s fall season — an evening that brings players, coaches, families and our community together for soccer, food, games and plenty of family fun. Expect opening games, the league walking parade, bounce houses, obstacle courses, a soccer shootout challenge, face painting, a balloon artist, food vendors and more!

Our Elks will be there supporting our local youth and helping make the evening a great one. 💙💛
