Petree Cellars

Petree Cellars A small family owned winery producing premium, handcrafted wines from Russian River Valley and Napa Valley. We look forward to sharing our passion with you!

A Family Affair
From the first crush in 2007, our family was hooked on wine making. From the picking to the pressing, we were all involved in the production. Our garage and wine cellar soon became a wine production facility full of equipment and barrels. In addition to our backyard vineyard, we sourced fruit from Napa Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands, and El Dorado AVA. Sharing this passion with frie

nds in the vineyard, at the crush pad, and on the dinner table was a very rewarding pursuit. With a desire to produce exceptional wine for the commercial market, we partnered with a wine maker, contracted with a custom crush facility, and fermented five tons of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in 2013.

Rob and I had the amazing opportunity to dine at A Restaurant in Newport Beach over the weekend.
The food and service were incredible! A few of the dishes we enjoyed were Spicy Yellowfin Tuna on crispy eggplant, Wild mushroom soup with puff pastry and Niman Ranch Pork Chop with truffle potato gnocchi and sweet vermouth sauce. This restaurant has been in business since 1926. The menu posted here is the original!
Guess what? Starting in October, they’ll be selling Petree Cellars’ wine!

Aren’t grapevines amazing? Our newly grafted vines are already vigorously pushing new growth after only a few weeks!
It was a difficult decision but the reason we headed over half of our vines was to graft Syrah onto the rootstock. We love the varietal, it grows well here, and we’ll get more even ripening with just one varietal rather than the three we have been working with. In a couple of years from now, we look forward to producing an amazing Syrah from our home vineyard!

You’ve heard of dry counties and wet counties, but did you know that the majority of counties in Tennessee are moist counties?
This is one of the things we learned while visiting Nashville.
We toured and tasted at Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg; ironically located in a dry county. Arrington Winery was very different from your typical wine tasting in Napa but we’re glad we experienced what Tennessee had to offer.

With so many incredible things to love about Napa, where do I begin?
We count ourselves so very fortunate to have easy access to its restaurants, vineyards, wineries, charm, beauty, and excellence!
It’s so intriguing to learn about the history of the people and circumstances that made the Napa Valley the legendary wine growing region that it is today!
The Grape Crusher was created by artist, Gino Miles, in 1988. About his sculpture, he says, “At the time, Napa Valley was not what it is now. It really celebrated what was to come, and then the industry blossomed into what is represented by the Grape Crusher.”

Rob and I want you all to know how thankful we are for your support over the past few years!
When we started selling our wines in 2016, we didn’t really know where it’d take us. We’ve had to change our focus a few times and we’ve faced many challenges but what we’ve enjoyed most is being able to share these amazing wines with friends and meeting new ones who share the passion.
Cheers to you all and keep spreading the word!

One of the foods we love to pair with our Russian River Chardonnay is crab cakes with citrus dressed mixed greens.
I found this recipe many years ago in the Williams Sonoma “Complete Entertaining Cookbook” and it’s been a favorite ever since.

Visiting the wineries in Fredericksburg, TX was quite an adventure! We didn’t see the rolling hills of grapevines that are common in Napa, but we tasted varietals that were new to us, such as a Cinsault Mourvèdre rosé from Pedernales Cellars. Viognier and Tempranillo were popular varietals from the area. We were very surprised to learn that many of the grapes are harvested in July!
There are so many wineries across our country and around the world! Where will you go on your next wine adventure?

Looking for a dish to pair with Petree Cellars Pinot Noir?
This bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with apple cider glaze is a favorite of ours. Accompanied by roasted broccoli with garlic and glazed yams.
