Welcome to Emily Wever Art! I am so glad you are here.
If you had told the younger me that I would one day become and artist, I probably would have laughed. I wasn't the kid sitting quietly, drawing in the corner. I was the outdoors kid, the daughter who jokingly became my dad's only son. I spent my days playing in the woods, riding horses and showing cattle.
Creativity was always a part of my life, though. I come from a family of artistic women. My great-grandmother was a painter, and her work hangs proudly in my sister's home and mine today. My mom studied art in college and always found creative ways to share that gift, from hand-drawn cards to massive Monet-inspired backdrops she painted with my sister for school competitions.
My own journey into art started in a way I never expected. In 2012, my husband and I opened a restaurant and we needed artwork for the empty walls. Even though I had never really painted before, I picked up a brush and to my surprise guests began purchasing my art faster than I could create. Somewhere along the way, I discovered a true passion for creating - not just because others connected with my work, but because I found a new way to express the colors, textures, and beauty that surround and inspire me. For years, creativity had found its way into the food I cooked. Painting gave that creativity a new canvas.
Fast-forward to today: I'm creating bold, colorful, heavily textured acrylic originals inspired by the beauty of the Appalachian mountains and the places I have been lucky enough to call home. After a few unexpected twists (including Hurricane Helene, changing my plans in 2024), I officially joined the art festival circuit in 2025 and have been sharing my work through North Carolina and beyond.
Before becoming an artist, I spent years as a youth camp director, and that experience still shapes how I see creativity. One of my favorite things about art festivals is watching people of all ages connect with art - especially when they realize my pieces aren't just meant to be seen, but experienced. The texture, layers, and details invite you to come closer (and yes, even touch!).
I'm excited to use this page to share upcoming festival dates, sneak peeks of new pieces, my inspiration and stories behind the artwork.
Thanks for being here and joining me on this next chapter. I can't wait to share what I am creating with you.
