Folks, as you may know, on Tuesday October 7, 2025, the city council authorized the Mayor to sign the lease agreement with us for the property at 210 South Boulder. Despite giving his word to us the week prior that he would honor and sign the lease as long as we accepted the terms the city set, the Mayor chose to veto the contract on October 8, 2025. His reasoning for doing so is due to a partially overheard conversation, taken out of context, and relayed to him by a third party. This is obviously frustrating to us as we've been working diligently to get this project off the ground. We met with the Mayor on October 10, 2025 to try to clear up any misunderstanding and he has remained steadfast in decision to veto the agreement. Over the past few days there has been quite of bit of half-truths and misinformation being distributed online. Therefore in the spirit of full transparency here is a link that has every email communication between the Mayor and The Russellville Playhouse, has all contracts and revisions between The Playhouse and the City, as well as the audio files of the "work session" where we first negotiated the terms of the agreement, the after council "emergency session" where we discussed the changes the city made to the agreement, and the October 10 meeting with the Mayor where we discussed his choice to veto the agreement. We believe that facts matter and the truth needs to be told. We have no desire to control the narrative in this. We simply ask you to review all of the facts prior to making a judgement either way. We are still hopeful that we can overturn the veto and get to work on bringing community theater to life in Russellville. Here is the link: https://we.tl/t-fOiW4I1wWz the password is: truth
